1. അയ്യോ, ജനപൂർണ്ണയായിരുന്ന നഗരം ഏകാന്തയായിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ? ജാതികളിൽ മഹതിയായിരുന്നവൾ വിധവയെപ്പോലെ ആയതെങ്ങനെ? സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ നായകിയായിരുന്നവൾ ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരത്തിയായതെങ്ങനെ?

1. Ayyo, Janapoornnayaayirunna Nagaram Ekaanthayaayirikkunnathengane? Jaathikalil Mahathiyaayirunnaval Vidhavayeppole Aayathengane? Samsthaanangalude Naayakiyaayirunnaval Oozhiyavelakkaaraththiyaayathengane?

1. How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave.

2. രാത്രിയിൽ അവൾ കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ കവിൾത്തടങ്ങളിൽ കണ്ണുനീർ കാണുന്നു; അവളുടെ സകലപ്രിയന്മാരിലും അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാൻ ആരുമില്ല; അവളുടെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരൊക്കെയും അവൾക്കു ശത്രുക്കളായി ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are upon her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is none to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.

3. കഷ്ടതയും ക� ിനദാസ്യവുംനിമിത്തം യെഹൂദാ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു; അവൾ ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ പാർക്കുംന്നു; വിശ്രാമം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതുമില്ല; അവളെ പിന്തുടരുന്നവരൊക്കെയും ഇടുക്കിടങ്ങളിൽവെച്ചു അവളെ എത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നു.

3. After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile. She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place. All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.

4. ഉത്സവത്തിന്നു ആരും വരായ്കകൊണ്ടു സീയോനിലേക്കുള്ള വഴികൾ ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ വാതിലുകളൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമായി. പുരോഹിതന്മാർ നെടുവീർപ്പിടുന്നു; അവളുടെ കന്യകമാർ ഖേദിക്കുന്നു; അവൾക്കും വ്യസനം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Uthsavaththinnu Aarum Varaaykakondu Seeyonilekkulla Vazhikal Dhuakhikkunnu; Avalude Vaathilukalokkeyum Shoonyamaayi. Purohithanmaar Neduveerppidunnu; Avalude Kanyakamaar Khedhikkunnu; Avalkkum Vyasanam Pidichirikkunnu.

4. The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to her appointed feasts. All her gateways are desolate, her priests groan, her maidens grieve, and she is in bitter anguish.

5. Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The LORD has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe.

6. സീയോൻ പുത്രിയുടെ മഹത്വമൊക്കെയും അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി; അവളുടെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ മേച്ചൽ കാണാത്ത മാനുകളെപ്പോലെ ആയി; പിന്തുടരുന്നവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ അവർ ശക്തിയില്ലാതെ നടക്കുന്നു.

6. Seeyon Puthriyude Mahathvamokkeyum Avale Vittupoyi; Avalude Prabhukkanmaar Mechal Kaanaaththa Maanukaleppole Aayi; Pinthudarunnavante Mumpil Avar Shakthiyillaathe Nadakkunnu.

6. All the splendor has departed from the Daughter of Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer.

7. കഷ്ടാരിഷ്ടതകളുടെ കാലത്തു യെരൂശലേം പണ്ടത്തെ മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കളെയൊക്കെയും ഔർക്കുംന്നു; സഹായിപ്പാൻ ആരുമില്ലാതെ അവളുടെ ജനം വൈരിയുടെ കയ്യിൽ അകപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ, വൈരികൾ അവളെ നോക്കി അവളുടെ നാശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിരിച്ചു.

7. Kashdaarishdathakalude Kaalaththu Yerooshalem Pandaththe Manoharavasthukkaleyokkeyum Aurkkumnnu; Sahaayippaan Aarumillaathe Avalude Janam Vairiyude Kayyil Akappettappol, Vairikal Avale Nokki Avalude Naashaththekkurichu Chirichu.

7. In the days of her affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into enemy hands, there was no one to help her. Her enemies looked at her and laughed at her destruction.

8. യെരൂശലേം ക� ിനപാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു മലിനയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചവരൊക്കെയും അവളുടെ നഗ്നത കണ്ടിട്ടു അവളെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു; അവളോ നെടുവീർപ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയുന്നു.

8. Jerusalem has sinned greatly and so has become unclean. All who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; she herself groans and turns away.

9. Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future. Her fall was astounding; there was none to comfort her. "Look, O LORD, on my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed."

10. അവളുടെ സകലമനോഹരവസ്തുക്കളിന്മേലും വൈരി കൈവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ സഭയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കരുതെന്നു നീ കല്പിച്ച ജാതികൾ അവളുടെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിൽ കടന്നതു അവൾ കണ്ടുവല്ലോ.

10. Avalude Sakalamanoharavasthukkalinmelum Vairi Kaivechirikkunnu; Ninte Sabhayil Praveshikkaruthennu Nee Kalpicha Jaathikal Avalude Vishuddhamandhiraththil Kadannathu Aval Kanduvallo.

10. The enemy laid hands on all her treasures; she saw pagan nations enter her sanctuary- those you had forbidden to enter your assembly.

11. അവളുടെ സർവ്വജനവും നെടുവീർപ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു ആഹാരം തിരയുന്നു; വിശപ്പടക്കുവാൻ ആഹാരത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ മനോഹര വസ്തുക്കളെ കൊടുത്തുകളയുന്നു; യഹോവേ, ഞാൻ നിന്ദിതയായിരിക്കുന്നതു കടാക്ഷിക്കേണമേ.

11. Avalude Sarvvajanavum Neduveerppittukondu Aahaaram Thirayunnu; Vishappadakkuvaan Aahaaraththinnu Vendi Avar Thangalude Manohara Vasthukkale Koduththukalayunnu; Yahove, Njaan Nindhithayaayirikkunnathu Kadaakshikkename.

11. All her people groan as they search for bread; they barter their treasures for food to keep themselves alive. "Look, O LORD, and consider, for I am despised."

12. കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഏവരുമായുള്ളോരേ, ഇതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഏതുമില്ലയോ? യഹോവ തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപദിവസത്തിൽ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എനിക്കു അവൻ വരുത്തിയ വ്യസനം പോലെ ഒരു വ്യസനം ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു നോക്കുവിൻ !

12. Kadannupokunna Evarumaayullore, Ithu Ningalkku Ethumillayo? Yahova Thante Ugrakopadhivasaththil Dhuakhippichirikkunna Enikku Avan Varuththiya Vyasanam Pole Oru Vyasanam Undo Ennu Nokkuvin !

12. "Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look around and see. Is any suffering like my suffering that was inflicted on me, that the LORD brought on me in the day of his fierce anger?

13. ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്നു അവൻ എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിൽ തീ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു കടന്നുപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കാലിന്നു അവൻ വല വിരിച്ചു, എന്നെ മടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവൻ എന്നെ ശൂന്യയും നിത്യരോഗിണിയും ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. Uyaraththilninnu Avan Ente Asthikalil Thee Ayachirikkunnu; Athu Kadannupidichirikkunnu; Ente Kaalinnu Avan Vala Virichu, Enne Madakkikkalanju; Avan Enne Shoonyayum Nithyaroginiyum Aakkiyirikkunnu.

13. "From on high he sent fire, sent it down into my bones. He spread a net for my feet and turned me back. He made me desolate, faint all the day long.

14. "My sins have been bound into a yoke; by his hands they were woven together. They have come upon my neck and the Lord has sapped my strength. He has handed me over to those I cannot withstand.

15. എന്റെ നടുവിലെ സകലബലവാന്മാരെയും കർത്താവു നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; എന്റെ യൌവനക്കാരെ തകർത്തുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ എന്റെ നേരെ ഒരു ഉത്സവയോഗം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; യെഹൂദാപുത്രിയായ കന്യകയെ കർത്താവു ചക്കിൽ ഇട്ടു ചിവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. Ente Naduvile Sakalabalavaanmaareyum Karththaavu Nirasichukalanju; Ente Yauvanakkaare Thakarththukalayendathinnu Avan Ente Nere Oru Uthsavayogam Vilichukootti; Yehoodhaaputhriyaaya Kanyakaye Karththaavu Chakkil Ittu Chivittikkalanjirikkunnu.

15. "The Lord has rejected all the warriors in my midst; he has summoned an army against me to crush my young men. In his winepress the Lord has trampled the Virgin Daughter of Judah.

16. ഇതുനിമിത്തം ഞാൻ കരയുന്നു; എന്റെ കണ്ണു കണ്ണുനീരൊഴുക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ തണുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന ആശ്വാസപ്രദൻ എന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ശത്രു പ്രബലനായിരിക്കയാൽ എന്റെ മക്കൾ നശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Ithunimiththam Njaan Karayunnu; Ente Kannu Kannuneerozhukkunnu; Ente Praanane Thanuppikkendunna Aashvaasapradhan Ennodu Akannirikkunnu; Shathru Prabalanaayirikkayaal Ente Makkal Nashichirikkunnu.

16. "This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed."

17. സീയോൻ കൈ മലർത്തുന്നു; അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാൻ ആരുമില്ല; യഹോവ യാക്കോബിന്നു അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും വൈരികളെ കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേം അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ മലിനയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Seeyon Kai Malarththunnu; Avale Aashvasippippaan Aarumilla; Yahova Yaakkobinnu Avante Chuttum Vairikale Kalpichaakkiyirikkunnu; Yerooshalem Avarude Idayil Malinayaayirikkunnu.

17. Zion stretches out her hands, but there is no one to comfort her. The LORD has decreed for Jacob that his neighbors become his foes; Jerusalem has become an unclean thing among them.

18. യഹോവ നീതിമാൻ ; ഞാൻ അവന്റെ കല്പനയോടു മത്സരിച്ചു; സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേൾക്കേണമേ, എന്റെ വ്യസനം കാണേണമേ; എന്റെ കന്യകമാരും യൌവനക്കാരും പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. Yahova Neethimaan ; Njaan Avante Kalpanayodu Mathsarichu; Sakalajaathikalumaayullore, Kelkkename, Ente Vyasanam Kaanename; Ente Kanyakamaarum Yauvanakkaarum Pravaasaththilekku Poyirikkunnu.

18. "The LORD is righteous, yet I rebelled against his command. Listen, all you peoples; look upon my suffering. My young men and maidens have gone into exile.

19. ഞാൻ എന്റെ പ്രിയന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു; അവരോ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; എന്റെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും വിശപ്പടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആഹാരം തിരഞ്ഞുനടക്കുമ്പോൾ നഗരത്തിൽ വെച്ചു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

19. Njaan Ente Priyanmaare Vilichu; Avaro Enne Chathichu; Ente Purohithanmaarum Mooppanmaarum Vishappadakkendathinnu Aahaaram Thiranjunadakkumpol Nagaraththil Vechu Praanane Vittu.

19. "I called to my allies but they betrayed me. My priests and my elders perished in the city while they searched for food to keep themselves alive.

20. യഹോവേ, നോക്കേണമേ; ഞാൻ വിഷമത്തിലായി എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കലങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ ക� ിനമായി മത്സരിക്കകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ മറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; പുറമേ വാൾ സന്തതിനാശം വരുത്തുന്നു; വീട്ടിലോ മരണം തന്നേ.

20. "See, O LORD, how distressed I am! I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious. Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death.

21. ഞാൻ നെടുവീർപ്പിടുന്നതു അവർ കേട്ടു; എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാൻ ആരുമില്ല; എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളൊക്കെയും എന്റെ അനർത്ഥം കേട്ടു, നീ അതു വരുത്തിയതുകൊണ്ടു സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; നീ കല്പിച്ച ദിവസം നീ വരുത്തും; അന്നു അവരും എന്നെപ്പോലെയാകും.

21. Njaan Neduveerppidunnathu Avar Kettu; Enne Aashvasippippaan Aarumilla; Ente Shathrukkalokkeyum Ente Anarththam Kettu, Nee Athu Varuththiyathukondu Santhoshikkunnu; Nee Kalpicha Dhivasam Nee Varuththum; Annu Avarum Enneppoleyaakum.

21. "People have heard my groaning, but there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my distress; they rejoice at what you have done. May you bring the day you have announced so they may become like me.

22. അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടതയൊക്കെയും തിരുമുമ്പിൽ വരട്ടെ; എന്റെ സകല അതിക്രമങ്ങളും നിമിത്തം നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവരോടും ചെയ്യേണമേ; എന്റെ നെടുവിർപ്പു വളരെയല്ലോ; എന്റെ ഹൃദയം രോഗാർത്തമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Avarude Dhushdathayokkeyum Thirumumpil Varatte; Ente Sakala Athikramangalum Nimiththam Nee Ennodu Cheythathupole Avarodum Cheyyename; Ente Neduvirppu Valareyallo; Ente Hrudhayam Rogaarththamaayirikkunnu.

22. "Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint."
