1. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അബ്രാമിന്നു ദർശനത്തിൽ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ: അബ്രാമേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പരിചയും നിന്റെ അതി മഹത്തായ പ്രതിഫലവും ആകുന്നു.

1. Athinte Shesham Abraaminnu Dharshanaththil Yahovayude Arulappaadu Undaayathenthennaal: Abraame, Bhayappedendaa; Njaan Ninte Parichayum Ninte Athi Mahaththaaya Prathiphalavum Aakunnu.

1. After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. "

2. അതിന്നു അബ്രാം: കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, നീ എനിക്കു എന്തു തരും? ഞാൻ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവനായി നടക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്റെ അവകാശി ദമ്മേശെക്കുകാരനായ ഈ എല്യേസർ അത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Athinnu Abraam: Karththaavaaya Yahove, Nee Enikku Enthu Tharum? Njaan Makkalillaaththavanaayi Nadakkunnuvallo; Ente Avakaashi Dhammeshekkukaaranaaya Ee Elyesar Athre Ennu Paranju.

2. But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?"

3. നീ എനിക്കു സന്തതിയെ തന്നിട്ടില്ല, എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ജനിച്ച ദാസൻ എന്റെ അവകാശിയാകുന്നു എന്നും അബ്രാം പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Nee Enikku Santhathiye Thannittilla, Ente Veettil Janicha Dhaasan Ente Avakaashiyaakunnu Ennum Abraam Paranju.

3. And Abram said, "You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir."

4. അവൻ നിന്റെ അവകാശിയാകയില്ല; നിന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നുപുറപ്പെടുന്നവൻ തന്നേ നിന്റെ അവകാശിയാകും. എന്നു അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

4. Avan Ninte Avakaashiyaakayilla; Ninte Udharaththilninnupurappedunnavan Thanne Ninte Avakaashiyaakum. Ennu Avannu Yahovayude Arulappaadundaayi.

4. Then the word of the LORD came to him: "This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir."

5. പിന്നെ അവൻ അവനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു: നീ ആകാശത്തേക്കു നോക്കുക; നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ എണ്ണുവാൻ കഴിയുമെങ്കിൽ എണ്ണുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. നിന്റെ സന്തതിഇങ്ങനെ ആകും എന്നും അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

5. Pinne Avan Avane Puraththu Konduchennu: Nee Aakaashaththekku Nokkuka; Nakshathrangale Ennuvaan Kazhiyumenkil Ennuka Ennu Kalpichu. Ninte Santhathiingane Aakum Ennum Avanodu Kalpichu.

5. He took him outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars-if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be."

6. അവൻ യഹോവയിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു; അതു അവൻ അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു.

6. Avan Yahovayil Vishvasichu; Athu Avan Avannu Neethiyaayi Kanakkittu.

6. Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

7. പിന്നെ അവനോടു: ഈ ദേശത്തെ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുവാൻ കൽദയപട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽനിന്നു നിന്നെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവ ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. Pinne Avanodu: Ee Dheshaththe Ninakku Avakaashamaayi Tharuvaan Kaldhayapattanamaaya Oorilninnu Ninne Koottikkonduvanna Yahova Njaan Aakunnu Ennu Arulicheythu.

7. He also said to him, "I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it."

8. കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, ഞാൻ അതിനെ അവകാശമാക്കുമെന്നുള്ളതുഎനിക്കു എന്തൊന്നിനാൽ അറിയാം എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു.

8. Karththaavaaya Yahove, Njaan Athine Avakaashamaakkumennullathuenikku Enthonninaal Ariyaam Ennu Avan Chodhichu.

8. But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?"

9. അവൻ അവനോടു: നീ മൂന്നു വയസ്സുള്ള ഒരു പശുക്കിടാവിനെയും മൂന്നുവയസ്സുള്ള ഒരു കോലാടിനെയും മൂന്നു വയസ്സുള്ള ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും ഒരു കുറുപ്രാവിനെയും ഒരു പ്രാവിൻ കുഞ്ഞിനെയും കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

9. Avan Avanodu: Nee Moonnu Vayassulla Oru Pashukkidaavineyum Moonnuvayassulla Oru Kolaadineyum Moonnu Vayassulla Oru Aattukottaneyum Oru Kurupraavineyum Oru Praavin Kunjineyum Konduvarika Ennu Kalpichu.

9. So the LORD said to him, "Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon."

10. ഇവയെയൊക്കെയും അവൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഒത്തനടുവെ പിളർന്നു ഭാഗങ്ങളെ നേർക്കുംനേരെ വെച്ചു; പക്ഷികളെയോ അവൻ പിളർന്നില്ല.

10. Ivayeyokkeyum Avan Konduvannu Oththanaduve Pilarnnu Bhaagangale Nerkkumnere Vechu; Pakshikaleyo Avan Pilarnnilla.

10. Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half.

11. ഉടലുകളിന്മേൽ റാഞ്ചൻ പക്ഷികൾഇറങ്ങി വന്നപ്പോൾ അബ്രാം അവയെ ആട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

11. Udalukalinmel Raanchan Pakshikalirangi Vannappol Abraam Avaye Aattikkalanju.

11. Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.

12. സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോൾ അബ്രാമിന്നു ഒരു ഗാഢനിദ്ര വന്നു; ഭീതിയും അന്ധതമസ്സും അവന്റെ മേൽ വീണു.

12. Sooryan Asthamikkumpol Abraaminnu Oru Gaaddanidhra Vannu; Bheethiyum Andhathamassum Avante Mel Veenu.

12. As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him.

13. അപ്പോൾ അവൻ അബ്രാമിനോടു: നിന്റെ സന്തതി സ്വന്തമല്ലാത്ത ദേശത്തു നാനൂറു സംവത്സരം പ്രവാസികളായിരുന്നു ആ ദേശക്കാരെ സേവിക്കും; അവർ അവരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു നീ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക.

13. Appol Avan Abraaminodu: Ninte Santhathi Svanthamallaaththa Dheshaththu Naanooru Samvathsaram Pravaasikalaayirunnu Aa Dheshakkaare Sevikkum; Avar Avare Peedippikkumennu Nee Arinjukolka.

13. Then the LORD said to him, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.

14. എന്നാൽ അവർ സേവിക്കുന്ന ജാതിയെ ഞാൻ വിധിക്കും; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവർ വളരെ സമ്പത്തോടുംകൂടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോരും.

14. Ennaal Avar Sevikkunna Jaathiye Njaan Vidhikkum; Athinte Shesham Avar Valare Sampaththodumkoode Purappettuporum.

14. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.

15. നീയോ സമാധാനത്തോടെ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ചേരും; നല്ല വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ അടക്കപ്പെടും.

15. Neeyo Samaadhaanaththode Ninte Pithaakkanmaarodu Cherum; Nalla Vaarddhakyaththil Adakkappedum.

15. You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age.

16. നാലാം തലമുറക്കാർ ഇവിടേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരും; അമോർയ്യരുടെ അക്രമം ഇതുവരെ തികഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

16. Naalaam Thalamurakkaar Ividekku Madangivarum; Amoryyarude Akramam Ithuvare Thikanjittilla Ennu Arulicheythu.

16. In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure."

17. സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിച്ചു ഇരുട്ടായശേഷം ഇതാ, പുകയുന്ന ഒരു തീച്ചൂള; ആ ഭാഗങ്ങളുടെ നടുവെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പന്തം കടന്നുപോയി.

17. Sooryan Asthamichu Iruttaayashesham Ithaa, Pukayunna Oru Theechoola; Aa Bhaagangalude Naduve Jvalikkunna Oru Pantham Kadannupoyi.

17. When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces.

18. അന്നു യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോടു ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു: നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഞാൻ മിസ്രയീംനദി തുടങ്ങി ഫ്രാത്ത് നദിയായ മഹാനദിവരെയുള്ള ഈ ദേശത്തെ,

18. Annu Yahova Abraaminodu Oru Niyamam Cheythu: Ninte Santhathikku Njaan Misrayeemnadhi Thudangi Phraaththu Nadhiyaaya Mahaanadhivareyulla Ee Dheshaththe,

18. On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates-

19. കേന്യർ, കെനിസ്യർ, കദ്മോന്യർ, ഹിത്യർ,

19. Kenyar, Kenisyar, Kadhmonyar, Hithyar,

19. the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,

20. പെറിസ്യർ, രെഫായീമ്യർ, അമോർയ്യർ,

20. Perisyar, Rephaayeemyar, Amoryyar,

20. Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,

21. കനാന്യർ, ഗിർഗ്ഗശ്യർ, യെബൂസ്യർ എന്നിവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ തന്നേ, തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

21. Kanaanyar, Girggashyar, Yeboosyar Ennivarude Dheshaththe Thanne, Thannirikkunnu Ennu Arulicheythu.

21. Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites."
