1. അനന്തരം അബ്രാഹാം അവിടെനിന്നു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തേക്കു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു കാദേശിന്നും സൂരിന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ കുടിയിരുന്നു ഗെരാരിൽ പരദേശിയായി പാർത്തു.

1. Anantharam Abraahaam Avideninnu Thekke Dheshaththekku Yaathra Purappettu Kaadheshinnum Soorinnum Maddhye Kudiyirunnu Geraaril Paradheshiyaayi Paarththu.

1. Now Abraham moved on from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur. For a while he stayed in Gerar,

2. അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറയെക്കുറിച്ചു: അവൾ എന്റെ പെങ്ങൾ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഗെരാർ രാജാവായ അബീമേലെൿ ആളയച്ചു സാറയെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

2. Abraahaam Thante Bhaaryayaaya Saarayekkurichu: Aval Ente Pengal Ennu Paranju. Geraar Raajaavaaya Abeemelek Aalayachu Saaraye Kondupoyi.

2. and there Abraham said of his wife Sarah, "She is my sister." Then Abimelech king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.

3. എന്നാൽ രാത്രിയിൽ ദൈവം സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: നീ എടുത്ത സ്ത്രീയുടെ നിമിത്തം നീ മരിക്കും; അവൾ ഒരു പുരുഷന്റെ ഭാര്യ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

3. Ennaal Raathriyil Dhaivam Svapnaththil Abeemelekkinte Adukkal Vannu Avanodu: Nee Eduththa Sthreeyude Nimiththam Nee Marikkum; Aval Oru Purushante Bhaarya Ennu Arulicheythu.

3. But God came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him, "You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman."

4. എന്നാൽ അബീമേലെൿ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നിരുന്നില്ല: ആകയാൽ അവൻ : കർത്താവേ, നീതിയുള്ള ജാതിയെയും നീ കൊല്ലുമോ?

4. Ennaal Abeemelek Avalude Adukkal Chennirunnilla: Aakayaal Avan : Karththaave, Neethiyulla Jaathiyeyum Nee Kollumo?

4. Now Abimelech had not gone near her, so he said, "Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?

5. ഇവൾ എന്റെ പെങ്ങളാകുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ. അവൻ എന്റെ ആങ്ങള എന്നു അവളും പറഞ്ഞു. ഹൃദയപരമാർത്ഥതയോടും കയ്യുടെ നിർമ്മലതയോടും കൂടെ ഞാൻ ഇതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Ival Ente Pengalaakunnu Ennu Avan Ennodu Paranjuvallo. Avan Ente Aangala Ennu Avalum Paranju. Hrudhayaparamaarththathayodum Kayyude Nirmmalathayodum Koode Njaan Ithu Cheythirikkunnu Ennu Paranju.

5. Did he not say to me, 'She is my sister,' and didn't she also say, 'He is my brother'? I have done this with a clear conscience and clean hands."

6. അതിന്നു ദൈവം സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ അവനോടു: നീ ഇതു ഹൃദയപരമാർത്ഥതയോടെ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നീ എന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ തടുത്തു; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു അവളെ തൊടുവാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സമ്മതിക്കാതിരുന്നതു.

6. Athinnu Dhaivam Svapnaththil Avanodu: Nee Ithu Hrudhayaparamaarththathayode Cheythirikkunnu Ennu Njaan Ariyunnu; Nee Ennodu Paapam Cheyyaathirippaan Njaan Ninne Thaduththu; Athukondaakunnu Avale Thoduvaan Njaan Ninne Sammathikkaathirunnathu.

6. Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me. That is why I did not let you touch her.

7. ഇപ്പോൾ ആ പുരുഷന്നു അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്ക; അവൻ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ ആകുന്നു; നീ ജീവനോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കട്ടെ. അവളെ മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാതിരുന്നാലോ, നീയും നിനക്കുള്ളവരൊക്കെയും മരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. Ippol Aa Purushannu Avante Bhaaryaye Madakkikkodukka; Avan Oru Pravaachakan Aakunnu; Nee Jeevanodirikkendathinnu Avan Ninakkuvendi Praarththikkatte. Avale Madakkikkodukkaathirunnaalo, Neeyum Ninakkullavarokkeyum Marikkendivarum Ennu Arinjukolka Ennu Arulicheythu.

7. Now return the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all yours will die."

8. അബീമേലെൿ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരെയും വരുത്തി ഈ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവർ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

8. Abeemelek Athikaalaththu Ezhunnettu Thante Sakalabhruthyanmaareyum Varuththi Ee Kaaryam Okkeyum Avarodu Paranju; Avar Ettavum Bhayappettu.

8. Early the next morning Abimelech summoned all his officials, and when he told them all that had happened, they were very much afraid.

9. അബീമേലെൿ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടു: നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? നീ എന്റെ മേലും എന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്മേലും ഒരു മഹാപാപം വരുത്തുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു എന്തു ദോഷം ചെയ്തു? ചെയ്യരുതാത്ത കാര്യം നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Abeemelek Abraahaamine Vilippichu Avanodu: Nee Njangalodu Cheythathu Enthu? Nee Ente Melum Ente Raajyaththinmelum Oru Mahaapaapam Varuththuvaan Thakkavannam Njaan Ninnodu Enthu Dhosham Cheythu? Cheyyaruthaaththa Kaaryam Nee Ennodu Cheythuvallo Ennu Paranju.

9. Then Abimelech called Abraham in and said, "What have you done to us? How have I wronged you that you have brought such great guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done."

10. നീ എന്തു കണ്ടിട്ടാകുന്നു ഇക്കാര്യം ചെയ്തതു എന്നു അബീമേലെൿ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതു:

10. Nee Enthu Kandittaakunnu Ikkaaryam Cheythathu Ennu Abeemelek Abraahaaminodu Chodhichathinnu Abraahaam Paranjathu:

10. And Abimelech asked Abraham, "What was your reason for doing this?"

11. ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു ദൈവഭയം ഇല്ല നിശ്ചയം; എന്റെ ഭാര്യനിമിത്തം അവർ എന്നെ കൊല്ലും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിരൂപിച്ചു.

11. Ee Sthalaththu Dhaivabhayam Illa Nishchayam; Ente Bhaaryanimiththam Avar Enne Kollum Ennu Njaan Niroopichu.

11. Abraham replied, "I said to myself, 'There is surely no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.'

12. വാസ്തവത്തിൽ അവൾ എന്റെ പെങ്ങളാകുന്നു; എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ മകൾ; എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ മകളല്ല താനും; അവൾ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായി.

12. Vaasthavaththil Aval Ente Pengalaakunnu; Ente Appante Makal; Ente Ammayude Makalalla Thaanum; Aval Enikku Bhaaryayaayi.

12. Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father though not of my mother; and she became my wife.

13. എന്നാൽ ദൈവം എന്നെ എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവളോടു: നീ എനിക്കു ഒരു ദയ ചെയ്യേണം: നാം ഏതൊരു ദിക്കിൽ ചെന്നാലും അവിടെ: അവൻ എന്റെ ആങ്ങള എന്നു എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

13. Ennaal Dhaivam Enne Ente Pithrubhavanaththilninnu Purappeduvichappol Njaan Avalodu: Nee Enikku Oru Dhaya Cheyyenam: Naam Ethoru Dhikkil Chennaalum Avide: Avan Ente Aangala Ennu Ennekkurichu Parayenam Ennu Paranjirunnu.

13. And when God had me wander from my father's household, I said to her, 'This is how you can show your love to me: Everywhere we go, say of me, "He is my brother."'"

14. അബീമേലെൿ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു ആടുമാടുകളെയും ദാസീദാസന്മാരെയും കൊടുത്തു; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറയെയും അവന്നു മടക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു:

14. Abeemelek Abraahaaminnu Aadumaadukaleyum Dhaaseedhaasanmaareyum Koduththu; Avante Bhaaryayaaya Saarayeyum Avannu Madakkikkoduththu:

14. Then Abimelech brought sheep and cattle and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham, and he returned Sarah his wife to him.

15. ഇതാ, എന്റെ രാജ്യം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കു ബോധിച്ചേടത്തു പാർത്തുകൊൾക എന്നു അബീമേലെൿ പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Ithaa, Ente Raajyam Ninte Mumpaake Irikkunnu; Ninakku Bodhichedaththu Paarththukolka Ennu Abeemelek Paranju.

15. And Abimelech said, "My land is before you; live wherever you like."

16. സാറയോടു അവൻ : നിന്റെ ആങ്ങളെക്കു ഞാൻ ആയിരം വെള്ളിക്കാശു കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടു; നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാവരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ ഇതു നിനക്കു ഒരു പ്രതിശാന്തി; നീ എല്ലാവർക്കും മുമ്പാകെ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Saarayodu Avan : Ninte Aangalekku Njaan Aayiram Vellikkaashu Koduththittundu; Ninnodukoodeyulla Ellaavarudeyum Mumpaake Ithu Ninakku Oru Prathishaanthi; Nee Ellaavarkkum Mumpaake Neetheekarikkappettumirikkunnu Ennu Paranju.

16. To Sarah he said, "I am giving your brother a thousand shekels of silver. This is to cover the offense against you before all who are with you; you are completely vindicated."

17. അബ്രാഹാം ദൈവത്തോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ ദൈവം അബീമേലെക്കിനെയും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും അവന്റെ ദാസിമാരെയും സൗഖ്യമാക്കി, അവർ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

17. Abraahaam Dhaivaththodu Apekshichu; Appol Dhaivam Abeemelekkineyum Avante Bhaaryayeyum Avante Dhaasimaareyum Saukhyamaakki, Avar Prasavichu.

17. Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his slave girls so they could have children again,

18. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറയുടെ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലെ ഗർഭം ഒക്കെയും അടെച്ചിരുന്നു.

18. Abraahaaminte Bhaaryayaaya Saarayude Nimiththam Yahova Abeemelekkinte Bhavanaththile Garbham Okkeyum Adechirunnu.

18. for the LORD had closed up every womb in Abimelech's household because of Abraham's wife Sarah.
