1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ താൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുപോലെ സാറയെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു; താൻ വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതു യഹോവ സാറെക്കു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

1. Anantharam Yahova Thaan Arulicheythirunnathupole Saaraye Sandharshichu; Thaan Vaagdhaththam Cheythirunnathu Yahova Saarekku Nivruththichukoduththu.

1. Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised.

2. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ ദൈവം അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അവധിക്കു സാറാ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

2. Abraahaaminte Vaarddhakyaththil Dhaivam Avanodu Arulicheythirunna Avadhikku Saaraa Garbham Dharichu Oru Makane Prasavichu.

2. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.

3. സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകന്നു അവൻ യിസ്ഹാൿ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

3. Saaraa Abraahaaminnu Prasavicha Makannu Avan Yishaak Ennu Perittu.

3. Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him.

4. ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ അവൻ തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു എട്ടാം ദിവസം പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിച്ചു.

4. Dhaivam Abraahaaminodu Kalpichirunnathupole Avan Thante Makanaaya Yishaakkinnu Ettaam Dhivasam Parichchedhana Kazhichu.

4. When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him.

5. തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാൿ ജനിച്ചപ്പോൾ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

5. Thante Makanaaya Yishaak Janichappol Abraahaaminnu Nooru Vayassaayirunnu.

5. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

6. ദൈവം എനിക്കു ചിരിയുണ്ടാക്കി; കേൾക്കുന്നവരെല്ലാം എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ചിരിക്കും എന്നു സാറാ പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Dhaivam Enikku Chiriyundaakki; Kelkkunnavarellaam Ennecholli Chirikkum Ennu Saaraa Paranju.

6. Sarah said, "God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me."

7. സാറാ മക്കൾക്കു മുലകൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ആർ പറയുമായിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിലല്ലോ ഞാൻ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നും അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Saaraa Makkalkku Mulakodukkumennu Abraahaaminodu Aar Parayumaayirunnu. Avante Vaarddhakyaththilallo Njaan Oru Makane Prasavichathu Ennum Aval Paranju.

7. And she added, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age."

8. പൈതൽ വളർന്നു മുലകുടി മാറി; യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ മുലകുടി മാറിയ നാളിൽ അബ്രാഹാം ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

8. Paithal Valarnnu Mulakudi Maari; Yishaakkinte Mulakudi Maariya Naalil Abraahaam Oru Valiya Virunnu Kazhichu.

8. The child grew and was weaned, and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a great feast.

9. മിസ്രയീമ്യദാസി ഹാഗാർ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകൻ പരിഹാസി എന്നു സാറാ കണ്ടു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു:

9. Misrayeemyadhaasi Haagaar Abraahaaminnu Prasavicha Makan Parihaasi Ennu Saaraa Kandu Abraahaaminodu:

9. But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking,

10. ഈ ദാസിയെയുംമകനെയും പുറത്താക്കിക്കളക; ഈ ദാസിയുടെ മകൻ എന്റെ മകൻ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു കൂടെ അവകാശിയാകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Ee Dhaasiyeyummakaneyum Puraththaakkikkalaka; Ee Dhaasiyude Makan Ente Makan Yishaakkinodu Koode Avakaashiyaakaruthu Ennu Paranju.

10. and she said to Abraham, "Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac."

11. തന്റെ മകൻ നിമിത്തം ഈ കാര്യം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി.

11. Thante Makan Nimiththam Ee Kaaryam Abraahaaminnu Anishdamaayi.

11. The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.

12. എന്നാൽ ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു: ബാലന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ദാസിയുടെ നിമിത്തവും നിനക്കു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നരുതു; സാറാ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതിലൊക്കെയുംഅവളുടെ വാക്കു കേൾക്ക; യിസ്ഹാക്കിൽനിന്നുള്ളവരല്ലോ നിന്റെ സാക്ഷാൽ സന്തതിയെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു.

12. Ennaal Dhaivam Abraahaaminodu: Baalante Nimiththavum Dhaasiyude Nimiththavum Ninakku Anishdam Thonnaruthu; Saaraa Ninnodu Paranjathilokkeyumavalude Vaakku Kelkka; Yishaakkilninnullavarallo Ninte Saakshaal Santhathiyennu Vilikkappedunnathu.

12. But God said to him, "Do not be so distressed about the boy and your maidservant. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.

13. ദാസിയുടെമകനെയും ഞാൻ ഒരു ജാതിയാക്കും; അവൻ നിന്റെ സന്തതിയല്ലോ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13. Dhaasiyudemakaneyum Njaan Oru Jaathiyaakkum; Avan Ninte Santhathiyallo Ennu Arulicheythu.

13. I will make the son of the maidservant into a nation also, because he is your offspring."

14. അബ്രാഹാം അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അപ്പവും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വെള്ളവും എടുത്തു ഹാഗാരിന്റെ തോളിൽവെച്ചു, കുട്ടിയെയും കൊടുത്തു അവളെ അയച്ചു; അവൾ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി ബേർ-ശേബ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ഉഴന്നു നടന്നു.

14. Abraahaam Athikaalaththu Ezhunnettu Appavum Oru Thuruththi Vellavum Eduththu Haagaarinte Tholilvechu, Kuttiyeyum Koduththu Avale Ayachu; Aval Purappettupoyi Ber-sheba Marubhoomiyil Uzhannu Nadannu.

14. Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the desert of Beersheba.

15. തുരുത്തിയിലെ വെള്ളം ചെലവായശേഷം അവൾ കുട്ടിയെ ഒരു കുറുങ്കാട്ടിൻ തണലിൽ ഇട്ടു.

15. Thuruththiyile Vellam Chelavaayashesham Aval Kuttiye Oru Kurunkaattin Thanalil Ittu.

15. When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes.

16. അവൾ പോയി അതിന്നെതിരെ ഒരു അമ്പിൻ പാടു ദൂരത്തു ഇരുന്നു: കുട്ടിയുടെ മരണം എനിക്കു കാണേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എതിരെ ഇരുന്നു ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു.

16. Aval Poyi Athinnethire Oru Ampin Paadu Dhooraththu Irunnu: Kuttiyude Maranam Enikku Kaanendaa Ennu Paranju Ethire Irunnu Urakke Karanju.

16. Then she went off and sat down nearby, about a bowshot away, for she thought, "I cannot watch the boy die." And as she sat there nearby, she began to sob.

17. ദൈവം ബാലന്റെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതൻ ആകാശത്തു നിന്നു ഹാഗാരിനെ വിളിച്ചു അവളോടു: ഹാഗാരേ, നിനക്കു എന്തു? നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ബാലൻ ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തുനിന്നു അവന്റെ നിലവിളികേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Dhaivam Baalante Nilavili Kettu; Dhaivaththinte Dhoothan Aakaashaththu Ninnu Haagaarine Vilichu Avalodu: Haagaare, Ninakku Enthu? Nee Bhayappedendaa; Baalan Irikkunnedaththuninnu Avante Nilavilikettirikkunnu.

17. God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.

18. നീ ചെന്നു ബാലനെ താങ്ങി എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചുകൊൾക; ഞാൻ അവനെ ഒരു വലിയ ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

18. Nee Chennu Baalane Thaangi Ezhunnelpichukolka; Njaan Avane Oru Valiya Jaathiyaakkum Ennu Arulicheythu.

18. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation."

19. ദൈവം അവളുടെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നു; അവൾ ഒരു നീരുറവു കണ്ടു, ചെന്നു തുരുത്തിയിൽ വെള്ളം നിറച്ചു ബാലനെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. Dhaivam Avalude Kannu Thurannu; Aval Oru Neeruravu Kandu, Chennu Thuruththiyil Vellam Nirachu Baalane Kudippichu.

19. Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.

20. ദൈവം ബാലനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാർത്തു, മുതിർന്നപ്പോൾ ഒരു വില്ലാളിയായി തീർന്നു.

20. Dhaivam Baalanodukoode Undaayirunnu; Avan Marubhoomiyil Paarththu, Muthirnnappol Oru Villaaliyaayi Theernnu.

20. God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer.

21. അവൻ പാരാൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാർത്തു; അവന്റെ അമ്മ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു അവന്നു ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

21. Avan Paaraan Marubhoomiyil Paarththu; Avante Amma Misrayeemdheshaththuninnu Avannu Oru Bhaaryaye Konduvannu.

21. While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.

22. അക്കാലത്തു അബിമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ പീക്കോലും അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു: നിന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു;

22. Akkaalaththu Abimelekkum Avante Senaapathiyaaya Peekkolum Abraahaaminodu Samsaarichu: Ninte Sakalapravruththiyilum Dhaivam Ninnodukoodeyundu;

22. At that time Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his forces said to Abraham, "God is with you in everything you do.

23. ആകയാൽ നീ എന്നോടോ എന്റെ സന്തതിയോടോ എന്റെ കുലത്തോടോ വ്യാജം പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാതെ ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചതുപോലെ നീ എന്നോടും നീ പാർത്തുവരുന്ന ദേശത്തോടും ദയകാണിക്കുമെന്നു ദൈവത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി ഇവിടെവെച്ചു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Aakayaal Nee Ennodo Ente Santhathiyodo Ente Kulaththodo Vyaajam Pravruththikkaathe Njaan Ninnodu Dhaya Kaanichathupole Nee Ennodum Nee Paarththuvarunna Dheshaththodum Dhayakaanikkumennu Dhaivaththecholli Ividevechu Ennodu Sathyam Cheyka Ennu Paranju.

23. Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants. Show to me and the country where you are living as an alien the same kindness I have shown to you."

24. സത്യം ചെയ്യാം എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞു.

24. Sathyam Cheyyaam Ennu Abraahaam Paranju.

24. Abraham said, "I swear it."

25. എന്നാൽ അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ അപഹരിച്ച കിണർനിമിത്തം അബ്രാഹാം അബീമേലെക്കിനോടു ഭത്സിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

25. Ennaal Abeemelekkinte Dhaasanmaar Apaharicha Kinarnimiththam Abraahaam Abeemelekkinodu Bhathsichuparanju.

25. Then Abraham complained to Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech's servants had seized.

26. അതിന്നു അബീമേലെക്; ഇക്കാര്യം ചെയ്തതു ആരെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല; നീ എന്നെ അറിയിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇന്നല്ലാതെ ഞാൻ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിട്ടുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Athinnu Abeemeleku; Ikkaaryam Cheythathu Aarennu Njaan Ariyunnilla; Nee Enne Ariyichittilla; Innallaathe Njaan Athinekkurichu Kettittumilla Ennu Paranju.

26. But Abimelech said, "I don't know who has done this. You did not tell me, and I heard about it only today."

27. പിന്നെ അബ്രാഹാം അബീമേലെക്കിന്നു ആടുമാടുകളെ കൊടുത്തു; അവർ ഇരുവരും തമ്മിൽ ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു.

27. Pinne Abraahaam Abeemelekkinnu Aadumaadukale Koduththu; Avar Iruvarum Thammil Udampadi Cheythu.

27. So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a treaty.

28. അബ്രാഹാം ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികളെ വേറിട്ടു നിർത്തി.

28. Abraahaam Ezhu Pennaattukuttikale Verittu Nirththi.

28. Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs from the flock,

29. അപ്പോൾ അബീമേലെൿ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു: നീ വേറിട്ടു നിർത്തിയ ഈ ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികൾ എന്തിന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

29. Appol Abeemelek Abraahaaminodu: Nee Verittu Nirththiya Ee Ezhu Pennaattukuttikal Enthinnu Ennu Chodhichu.

29. and Abimelech asked Abraham, "What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs you have set apart by themselves?"

30. ഞാൻ ഈ കിണർ കുഴിച്ചു എന്നതിന്നു സാക്ഷിയായി നീ ഈ ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികളെ എന്നോടു വാങ്ങേണം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

30. Njaan Ee Kinar Kuzhichu Ennathinnu Saakshiyaayi Nee Ee Ezhu Pennaattukuttikale Ennodu Vaangenam Ennu Avan Paranju.

30. He replied, "Accept these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I dug this well."

31. അവർ ഇരുവരും അവിടെവെച്ചു സത്യം ചെയ്ക കൊണ്ടു അവൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ബേർ-ശേബ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

31. Avar Iruvarum Avidevechu Sathyam Cheyka Kondu Avan Aa Sthalaththinnu Ber-sheba Ennu Perittu.

31. So that place was called Beersheba, because the two men swore an oath there.

32. ഇങ്ങനെ അവർ ബേർ-ശേബയിൽവെച്ചു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു. അബീമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ പീക്കോലും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

32. Ingane Avar Ber-shebayilvechu Udampadi Cheythu. Abeemelekkum Avante Senaapathiyaaya Peekkolum Ezhunnettu Phelisthyarude Dheshaththekku Madangippoyi.

32. After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines.

33. അബ്രാഹാം ബേർ-ശേബയിൽ ഒരു പിചുലവൃക്ഷം നട്ടു, നിത്യദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ അവിടെവെച്ചു ആരാധന കഴിച്ചു.

33. Abraahaam Ber-shebayil Oru Pichulavruksham Nattu, Nithyadhaivamaaya Yahovayude Naamaththil Avidevechu Aaraadhana Kazhichu.

33. Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called upon the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.

34. അബ്രാഹാം കുറേക്കാലം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു പാർത്തു.

34. Abraahaam Kurekkaalam Phelisthyarude Dheshaththu Paarththu.

34. And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.
