1. അബ്രാഹാം വയസ്സുചെന്നു വൃദ്ധനായി; യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ സകലത്തിലും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.

1. Abraahaam Vayassuchennu Vruddhanaayi; Yahova Abraahaamine Sakalaththilum Anugrahichirunnu.

1. Abraham was now old and well advanced in years, and the LORD had blessed him in every way.

2. തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ മൂപ്പനും തനിക്കുള്ളതിന്നൊക്കെയും വിചാരകനുമായ ദാസനോടു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതു: നിന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ തുടയിൻ കീഴിൽ വെക്കുക;

2. Thante Veettil Mooppanum Thanikkullathinnokkeyum Vichaarakanumaaya Dhaasanodu Abraahaam Paranjathu: Ninte Kai Ente Thudayin Keezhil Vekkuka;

2. He said to the chief servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, "Put your hand under my thigh.

3. ചുറ്റും പാർക്കുംന്ന കനാന്യരുടെ കന്യകമാരിൽനിന്നു നീ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കാതെ,

3. Chuttum Paarkkumnna Kanaanyarude Kanyakamaarilninnu Nee Ente Makannu Bhaaryaye Edukkaathe,

3. I want you to swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

4. എന്റെ ദേശത്തും എന്റെ ചാർച്ചക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു എന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കുമെന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിന്നും ഭൂമിക്കും ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിക്കും.

4. Ente Dheshaththum Ente Chaarchakkaarude Adukkalum Chennu Ente Makanaaya Yishaakkinnu Bhaaryaye Edukkumennu Svarggaththinnum Bhoomikkum Dhaivamaaya Yahovayude Naamaththil Njaan Ninnekkondu Sathyam Cheyyikkum.

4. but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac."

5. ദാസൻ അവനോടു: പക്ഷേ സ്ത്രീക്കു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഈ ദേശത്തേക്കു വരുവാൻ മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ? നീ വിട്ടുപോന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ മകനെ മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. The servant asked him, "What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?"

6. അബ്രാഹാം അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്റെ മകനെ അവിടെക്കു മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു പോകാതിരിപ്പാൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക.

6. "Make sure that you do not take my son back there," Abraham said.

7. Ente Pithrubhavanaththilninnum Janmadheshaththuninnum Enne Konduvannavanum Ennodu Arulicheythavanum Ninte Santhathikku Njaan Ee Dhesham Kodukkumennu Ennodu Sathyam Cheythavanumaayi Svarggaththinte Dhaivamaaya Yahova Ente Makannu Nee Oru Bhaaryaye Avideninnu Konduvaruvaan Thakkavannam Ninakku Mumpaayi Thante Dhoothane Ayakkum.

7. "The LORD, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father's household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, 'To your offspring I will give this land'-he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

8. എന്നാൽ സ്ത്രീക്കു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ വരുവാൻ മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിൽ നീ ഈ സത്യത്തിൽ നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും; എന്റെ മകനെ അവിടേക്കു മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോക മാത്രം അരുതു.

8. Ennaal Sthreekku Ninnodukoode Varuvaan Manassillenkil Nee Ee Sathyaththil Ninnu Ozhinjirikkum; Ente Makane Avidekku Madakkikkondupoka Maathram Aruthu.

8. If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there."

9. അപ്പോൾ ദാസൻ തന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ തുടയിൻ കീഴിൽ കൈവെച്ചു അങ്ങനെ അവനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു.

9. Appol Dhaasan Thante Yajamaananaaya Abraahaaminte Thudayin Keezhil Kaivechu Angane Avanodu Sathyam Cheythu.

9. So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.

10. അനന്തരം ആ ദാസൻ തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളിൽ പത്തു ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെയും യജമാനന്നുള്ള വിവിധമായ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളെയും കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു മെസൊപ്പൊത്താമ്യയിൽ നാഹോരിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു.

10. Anantharam Aa Dhaasan Thante Yajamaanante Ottakangalil Paththu Ottakangaleyum Yajamaanannulla Vividhamaaya Visheshavasthukkaleyum Kondu Purappettu Mesoppoththaamyayil Naahorinte Pattanaththil Chennu.

10. Then the servant took ten of his master's camels and left, taking with him all kinds of good things from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor.

11. വൈകുന്നേരം സ്ത്രീകൾ വെള്ളം കോരുവാൻ വരുന്ന സമയത്തു അവൻ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു ഒരു കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ നിറുത്തി പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

11. Vaikunneram Sthreekal Vellam Koruvaan Varunna Samayaththu Avan Ottakangale Pattanaththinnu Puraththu Oru Kinattinnarike Niruththi Paranjathenthennaal:

11. He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.

12. എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കൃപചെയ്തു ഇന്നുതന്നെ കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിച്ചുതരേണമേ.

12. Ente Yajamaananaaya Abraahaaminte Dhaivamaaya Yahove, Ente Yajamaananaaya Abraahaaminodu Krupacheythu Innuthanne Kaaryam Saadhippichutharename.

12. Then he prayed, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

13. See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.

14. Ninte Paathram Irakki Enikku Kudippaan Tharenam Ennu Njaan Parayumpol: Kudikka; Ninte Ottakangalkkum Kudippaan Kodukkaamennu Parayunna Sthree Thanne Nee Ninte Dhaasanaaya Yishaakkinnu Niyamichavalaayirikkatte; Nee Ente Yajamaananodu Krupa Cheythu Ennu Njaan Athinaal Grahikkum.

14. May it be that when I say to a girl, 'Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I'll water your camels too'-let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master."

15. അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു തീരുംമുമ്പെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മിൽക്കയുടെ മകൻ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകൾ റിബെക്കാ തോളിൽ പാത്രവുമായി വന്നു.

15. Avan Paranju Theerummumpe Abraahaaminte Sahodharanaaya Naahorinte Bhaarya Milkkayude Makan Bethoovelinte Makal Ribekkaa Tholil Paathravumaayi Vannu.

15. Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor.

16. ബാല അതിസുന്ദരിയും പുരുഷൻ തൊടാത്ത കന്യകയും ആയിരുന്നു; അവൾ കിണറ്റിൽ ഇറങ്ങി പാത്രം നിറച്ചു കയറിവന്നു.

16. Baala Athisundhariyum Purushan Thodaaththa Kanyakayum Aayirunnu; Aval Kinattil Irangi Paathram Nirachu Kayarivannu.

16. The girl was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever lain with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

17. ദാസൻ വേഗത്തിൽ അവളെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു: നിന്റെ പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം കുറെ എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Dhaasan Vegaththil Avale Ethirettu Chennu: Ninte Paathraththile Vellam Kure Enikku Kudippaan Tharenam Ennu Paranju.

17. The servant hurried to meet her and said, "Please give me a little water from your jar."

18. യജമാനനേ, കുടിക്ക എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു വേഗം പാത്രം കയ്യിൽ ഇറക്കി അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു.

18. "Drink, my lord," she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.

19. After she had given him a drink, she said, "I'll draw water for your camels too, until they have finished drinking."

20. പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം വേഗം തൊട്ടിയിൽ ഒഴിച്ചു, പിന്നെയും കോരിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ കിണറ്റിലേക്കു ഔടി ഇറങ്ങി അവന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും എല്ലാം കോരിക്കൊടുത്തു.

20. Paathraththile Vellam Vegam Thottiyil Ozhichu, Pinneyum Korikkonduvaruvaan Kinattilekku Audi Irangi Avante Ottakangalkkum Ellaam Korikkoduththu.

20. So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels.

21. ആ പുരുഷൻ അവളെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കി, യഹോവ തന്റെ യാത്രയെ സഫലമാക്കിയോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

21. Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the LORD had made his journey successful.

22. ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾ കുടിച്ചു തീർന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ അര ശേക്കെൽ തൂക്കമുള്ള ഒരു പൊന്മൂകൂത്തിയും അവളുടെ കൈക്കിടുവാൻ പത്തു ശേക്കെൽ തൂക്കമുള്ള രണ്ടു പൊൻ വളയും എടുത്തു അവളോടു:

22. When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels.

23. Then he asked, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father's house for us to spend the night?"

25. And she added, "We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night."

26. അപ്പോൾ ആ പുരുഷൻ കുനിഞ്ഞു യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു:

26. Then the man bowed down and worshiped the LORD,

27. എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ ; അവൻ എന്റെ യജമാനനോടുള്ള ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ഈ യാത്രയിൽ യഹോവ എന്നെ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Ente Yajamaananaaya Abraahaaminte Dhaivamaaya Yahova Vaazhththappettavan ; Avan Ente Yajamaananodulla Dhayayum Vishvasthathayum Upekshichittilla. Ee Yaathrayil Yahova Enne Ente Yajamaanante Sahodharanmaarude Veettilekku Nadaththikkonduvannuvallo Ennu Paranju.

27. saying, "Praise be to the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the journey to the house of my master's relatives."

28. ബാല ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അമ്മയുടെ വീട്ടുകാരെ ഈ വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു.

28. Baala Audichennu Ammayude Veettukaare Ee Vasthutha Ariyichu.

28. The girl ran and told her mother's household about these things.

29. Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and he hurried out to the man at the spring.

30. As soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister's arms, and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring.

31. അപ്പോൾ അവൻ : യഹോവയാൽ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനേ, അകത്തു വരിക; എന്തിന്നു പുറത്തു നിലക്കുന്നു? വീടും ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കു സ്ഥലവും ഞാൻ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. Appol Avan : Yahovayaal Anugrahikkappettavane, Akaththu Varika; Enthinnu Puraththu Nilakkunnu? Veedum Ottakangalkku Sthalavum Njaan Orukkiyirikkunnu Ennu Paranju.

31. "Come, you who are blessed by the LORD," he said. "Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels."

32. അങ്ങനെ ആ പുരുഷൻ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു. അവൻ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ കോപ്പഴിച്ചു ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കു വയ്ക്കോലും തീനും അവന്നും കൂടെയുള്ളവർക്കും കാലുകളെ കഴുകുവാൻ വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു, അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഭക്ഷണം വെച്ചു.

32. Angane Aa Purushan Veettil Chennu. Avan Ottakangale Koppazhichu Ottakangalkku Vaykkolum Theenum Avannum Koodeyullavarkkum Kaalukale Kazhukuvaan Vellavum Koduththu, Avante Mumpil Bhakshanam Vechu.

32. So the man went to the house, and the camels were unloaded. Straw and fodder were brought for the camels, and water for him and his men to wash their feet.

33. ഞാൻ വന്ന കാര്യം അറിയിക്കും മുമ്പെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. പറക എന്നു അവനും പറഞ്ഞു.

33. Njaan Vanna Kaaryam Ariyikkum Mumpe Bhakshanam Kazhikkayilla Ennu Avan Paranju. Paraka Ennu Avanum Paranju.

33. Then food was set before him, but he said, "I will not eat until I have told you what I have to say.Then tell us," Laban said.

34. So he said, "I am Abraham's servant.

35. Yahova Ente Yajamaanane Ettavum Anugrahichu Avan Mahaanaayiththeernnu; Avan Avannu Aadu, Maadu, Ponnu, Velli, Dhaaseedhaasanmaar, Ottakangal Kazhuthakal Enneevakayokkeyum Koduththirikkunnu.

35. The LORD has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, and camels and donkeys.

36. എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറാ വൃദ്ധയായശേഷം എന്റെ യജമാനന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവൻ തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

36. Ente Yajamaanante Bhaaryayaaya Saaraa Vruddhayaayashesham Ente Yajamaanannu Oru Makane Prasavichu; Avan Thanikkullathokkeyum Avannu Koduththirikkunnu.

36. My master's wife Sarah has borne him a son in her old age, and he has given him everything he owns.

37. ഞാൻ പാർക്കുംന്ന കനാൻ ദേശത്തിലെ കനാന്യ കന്യകമാരിൽനിന്നു നീ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കാതെ,

37. Njaan Paarkkumnna Kanaan Dheshaththile Kanaanya Kanyakamaarilninnu Nee Ente Makannu Bhaaryaye Edukkaathe,
