1. അനന്തരം യിസ്ഹാൿ യാക്കോബിനെ വിളിച്ചു, അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു, അവനോടു ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ കനാന്യ സ്ത്രീകളിൽനിന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കരുതു.

1. Anantharam Yishaak Yaakkobine Vilichu, Avane Anugrahichu, Avanodu Aajnjaapichu Paranjathu: Nee Kanaanya Sthreekalilninnu Bhaaryaye Edukkaruthu.

1. So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him and commanded him: "Do not marry a Canaanite woman.

2. പുറപ്പെട്ടു പദ്ദൻ -അരാമിൽ നിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ അപ്പനായ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു നിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ പുത്രിമാരിൽ നിന്നു നിനക്കു ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്ക.

2. Purappettu Paddhan -araamil Ninte Ammayude Appanaaya Bethoovelinte Veettil Chennu Ninte Ammayude Sahodharanaaya Laabaante Puthrimaaril Ninnu Ninakku Oru Bhaaryaye Edukka.

2. Go at once to Paddan Aram, to the house of your mother's father Bethuel. Take a wife for yourself there, from among the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.

3. സർവ്വശക്തനായ ദൈവം നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയും നീ ജനസമൂഹമായി തീരത്തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്നെ സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനായി പെരുക്കുകയും

3. Sarvvashakthanaaya Dhaivam Ninne Anugrahikkayum Nee Janasamoohamaayi Theeraththakkavannam Ninne Santhaanapushdiyullavanaayi Perukkukayum

3. May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples.

4. ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു കൊടുത്തതും നീ പരദേശിയായി പാർക്കുംന്നതുമായ ദേശം നീ കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും തരികയും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ.

4. Dhaivam Abraahaaminnu Koduththathum Nee Paradheshiyaayi Paarkkumnnathumaaya Dhesham Nee Kaivashamaakkendathinnu Abraahaaminte Anugraham Ninakkum Ninte Santhathikkum Tharikayum Cheyyumaaraakatte.

4. May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as an alien, the land God gave to Abraham."

5. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്ഹാൿ യാക്കോബിനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു; അവൻ പദ്ദൻ -അരാമിൽ അരാമ്യനായ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകനും യാക്കോബിന്റെയും ഏശാവിന്റെയും അമ്മയായ റിബെക്കയുടെ സഹോദരനുമായ ലാബാന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി.

5. Angane Yishaak Yaakkobine Paranjayachu; Avan Paddhan -araamil Araamyanaaya Bethoovelinte Makanum Yaakkobinteyum Eshaavinteyum Ammayaaya Ribekkayude Sahodharanumaaya Laabaante Adukkal Poyi.

5. Then Isaac sent Jacob on his way, and he went to Paddan Aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, who was the mother of Jacob and Esau.

6. യിസ്ഹാൿ യാക്കോബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു പദ്ദൻ -അരാമിൽനിന്നു ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ എടുപ്പാൻ അവനെ അവിടെക്കു അയച്ചതും, അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുമ്പോൾ: നീ കനാന്യസ്ത്രീകളിൽനിന്നു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കരുതെന്നു അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചതും

6. Yishaak Yaakkobine Anugrahichu Paddhan -araamilninnu Oru Bhaaryaye Eduppaan Avane Avidekku Ayachathum, Avane Anugrahikkumpol: Nee Kanaanyasthreekalilninnu Bhaaryaye Edukkaruthennu Avanodu Kalpichathum

6. Now Esau learned that Isaac had blessed Jacob and had sent him to Paddan Aram to take a wife from there, and that when he blessed him he commanded him, "Do not marry a Canaanite woman,"

7. യാക്കോബ് അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും അനുസരിച്ചു പദ്ദൻ -അരാമിലേക്കു പോയതും ഏശാവ് അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ,

7. Yaakkobu Appaneyum Ammayeyum Anusarichu Paddhan -araamilekku Poyathum Eshaavu Arinjappol,

7. and that Jacob had obeyed his father and mother and had gone to Paddan Aram.

8. കനാന്യസ്ത്രീകൾ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളവരല്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു

8. Kanaanyasthreekal Thante Appanaaya Yishaakkinnu Ishdamullavaralla Ennu Kandu

8. Esau then realized how displeasing the Canaanite women were to his father Isaac;

9. ഏശാവ് യിശ്മായേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു തനിക്കുള്ള ഭാര്യമാരെ കൂടാതെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേലിന്റെ മകളും നെബായോത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരിയുമായ മഹലത്തിനെയും വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.

9. Eshaavu Yishmaayelinte Adukkal Chennu Thanikkulla Bhaaryamaare Koodaathe Abraahaaminte Makanaaya Yishmaayelinte Makalum Nebaayoththinte Sahodhariyumaaya Mahalaththineyum Vivaaham Kazhichu.

9. so he went to Ishmael and married Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Ishmael son of Abraham, in addition to the wives he already had.

10. എന്നാൽ യാക്കോബ് ബേർ-ശേബയിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഹാരാനിലേക്കു പോയി.

10. Ennaal Yaakkobu Ber-shebayil Ninnu Purappettu Haaraanilekku Poyi.

10. Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran.

11. അവൻ ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവിടെ രാപാർത്തു; അവൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തെ കല്ലുകളിൽ ഒന്നു എടുത്തു തലയണയായി വെച്ചു അവിടെ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി.

11. Avan Oru Sthalaththu Eththiyappol Sooryan Asthamikkakondu Avide Raapaarththu; Avan Aa Sthalaththe Kallukalil Onnu Eduththu Thalayanayaayi Vechu Avide Kidannurangi.

11. When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.

12. അവൻ ഒരു സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടു: ഇതാ, ഭൂമിയിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു കോവണി; അതിന്റെ തല സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തോളം എത്തിയിരുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാർ അതിന്മേൽകൂടി കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങുകയുമായിരുന്നു.

12. Avan Oru Svapnam Kandu: Ithaa, Bhoomiyil Vechirikkunna Oru Kovani; Athinte Thala Svarggaththolam Eththiyirunnu; Dhaivaththinte Dhoothanmaar Athinmelkoodi Kayarukayum Irangukayumaayirunnu.

12. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

13. അതിന്മീതെ യഹോവ നിന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും, യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവുമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു; നീ കിടക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും തരും.

13. Athinmeethe Yahova Ninnu Arulicheythathu: Njaan Ninte Pithaavaaya Abraahaaminte Dhaivavum, Yishaakkinte Dhaivavumaaya Yahova Aakunnu; Nee Kidakkunna Bhoomiye Njaan Ninakkum Ninte Santhathikkum Tharum.

13. There above it stood the LORD, and he said: "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.

14. നിന്റെ സന്തതി ഭൂമിയിലെ പൊടിപോലെ ആകും; നീ പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടും കിഴക്കോട്ടും വടക്കോട്ടും തെക്കോട്ടും പരക്കും; നീ മുഖാന്തരവും നിന്റെ സന്തതി മുഖാന്തരവും ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവംശങ്ങളും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.

14. Ninte Santhathi Bhoomiyile Podipole Aakum; Nee Padinjaarottum Kizhakkottum Vadakkottum Thekkottum Parakkum; Nee Mukhaantharavum Ninte Santhathi Mukhaantharavum Bhoomiyile Sakalavamshangalum Anugrahikkappedum.

14. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.

15. ഇതാ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു; നീ പോകുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും നിന്നെ കാത്തു ഈ രാജ്യത്തേക്കു നിന്നെ മടക്കിവരുത്തും; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കൈവിടാതെ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവർത്തിക്കും.

15. Ithaa, Njaan Ninnodukoodeyundu; Nee Pokunnedaththokkeyum Ninne Kaaththu Ee Raajyaththekku Ninne Madakkivaruththum; Njaan Ninne Kaividaathe Ninnodu Arulicheythathu Nivarththikkum.

15. I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."

16. അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് ഉറക്കമുണർന്നു: യഹോവ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുണ്ടു സത്യം; ഞാനോ അതു അറിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Appol Yaakkobu Urakkamunarnnu: Yahova Ee Sthalaththundu Sathyam; Njaano Athu Arinjilla Ennu Paranju.

16. When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it."

17. അവൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു: ഈ സ്ഥലം എത്ര ഭയങ്കരം! ഇതു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയമല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നല്ല; ഇതു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Avan Bhayappettu: Ee Sthalam Ethra Bhayankaram! Ithu Dhaivaththinte Aalayamallaathe Mattonnalla; Ithu Svarggaththinte Vaathil Thanne Ennu Paranju.

17. He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."

18. യാക്കോബ് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തലയണയായി വെച്ചിരുന്ന കല്ലു എടുത്തു തൂണായി നിർത്തി, അതിന്മേൽ എണ്ണ ഒഴിച്ചു.

18. Yaakkobu Athikaalaththu Ezhunnettu Thalayanayaayi Vechirunna Kallu Eduththu Thoonaayi Nirththi, Athinmel Enna Ozhichu.

18. Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.

19. അവൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ബേഥേൽ എന്നു പേർവിളിച്ചു; ആദ്യം ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു ലൂസ് എന്നു പേരായിരുന്നു.

19. Avan Aa Sthalaththinnu Bethel Ennu Pervilichu; Aadhyam Aa Pattanaththinnu Loosu Ennu Peraayirunnu.

19. He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.

20. യാക്കോബ് ഒരു നേർച്ചനേർന്നു: ദൈവം എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കയും ഞാൻ പോകുന്ന ഈ യാത്രയിൽ എന്നെ കാക്കുകയും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ആഹാരവും ധരിപ്പാൻ വസ്ത്രവും എനിക്കു തരികയും

20. Yaakkobu Oru Nerchanernnu: Dhaivam Ennodukoode Irikkayum Njaan Pokunna Ee Yaathrayil Enne Kaakkukayum Bhakshippaan Aahaaravum Dharippaan Vasthravum Enikku Tharikayum

20. Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear

21. എന്നെ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു സൗഖ്യത്തോടെ മടക്കി വരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുമെങ്കിൽ യഹോവ എനിക്കു ദൈവമായിരിക്കും.

21. Enne Ente Appante Veettilekku Saukhyaththode Madakki Varuththukayum Cheyyumenkil Yahova Enikku Dhaivamaayirikkum.

21. so that I return safely to my father's house, then the LORD will be my God

22. ഞാൻ തൂണായി നിർത്തിയ ഈ കല്ലു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയവും ആകും. നീ എനിക്കു തരുന്ന സകലത്തിലും ഞാൻ നിനക്കു ദശാംശം തരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Njaan Thoonaayi Nirththiya Ee Kallu Dhaivaththinte Aalayavum Aakum. Nee Enikku Tharunna Sakalaththilum Njaan Ninakku Dhashaamsham Tharum Ennu Paranju.

22. and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth."
