1. പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് പ്രയാണം ചെയ്തു കിഴക്കരുടെ ദേശത്തു എത്തി.

1. Then Jacob continued on his journey and came to the land of the eastern peoples.

2. There he saw a well in the field, with three flocks of sheep lying near it because the flocks were watered from that well. The stone over the mouth of the well was large.

3. ആ സ്ഥലത്തു കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ കൂടുകയും അവർ കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽനിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കയും കല്ലു കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായക്ക്ൽ അതിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നേ തിരികെ വെക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

3. Aa Sthalaththu Koottangal Okke Koodukayum Avar Kinattinte Vaaykkalninnu Kallu Urutti Aadukalkku Vellam Kodukkayum Kallu Kinattinte Vaayakkl Athinte Sthalaththu Thanne Thirike Vekkayum Cheyyum.

3. When all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone away from the well's mouth and water the sheep. Then they would return the stone to its place over the mouth of the well.

4. Jacob asked the shepherds, "My brothers, where are you from?We're from Haran," they replied.

7. "Look," he said, "the sun is still high; it is not time for the flocks to be gathered. Water the sheep and take them back to pasture."

8. "We can't," they replied, "until all the flocks are gathered and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the well. Then we will water the sheep."

10. Thante Ammayude Sahodharanaaya Laabaante Makal Raahelineyum Ammayude Sahodharanaaya Laabaante Aadukaleyum Kandappol Yaakkobu Aduththu Chennu Kanattinte Vaaykkalninnu Kallu Urutti, Ammayude Sahodharanaaya Laabaante Aadukalkku Vellam Koduththu.

10. When Jacob saw Rachel daughter of Laban, his mother's brother, and Laban's sheep, he went over and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle's sheep.

11. യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

11. Yaakkobu Raaheline Chumbichu Pottikkaranju.

11. Then Jacob kissed Rachel and began to weep aloud.

13. As soon as Laban heard the news about Jacob, his sister's son, he hurried to meet him. He embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his home, and there Jacob told him all these things.

14. ലാബാൻ അവനോടു: നീ എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ ഒരു മാസകാലം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പാർത്തു.

14. Laabaan Avanodu: Nee Ente Asthiyum Maamsavum Thanne Ennu Paranju. Avan Oru Maasakaalam Avante Adukkal Paarththu.

14. Then Laban said to him, "You are my own flesh and blood." After Jacob had stayed with him for a whole month,

15. പിന്നെ ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോടു: നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരനാകകൊണ്ടു വെറുതെ എന്നെ സേവിക്കേണമോ? നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Pinne Laabaan Yaakkobinodu: Nee Ente Sahodharanaakakondu Veruthe Enne Sevikkenamo? Ninakku Enthu Prathiphalam Venam? Ennodu Paraka Ennu Paranju.

15. Laban said to him, "Just because you are a relative of mine, should you work for me for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be."

16. എന്നാൽ ലാബാന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു: മൂത്തവൾക്കു ലേയാ എന്നും ഇളയവൾക്കു റാഹേൽ എന്നും പേർ.

16. Ennaal Laabaannu Randu Puthrimaar Undaayirunnu: Mooththavalkku Leyaa Ennum Ilayavalkku Raahel Ennum Per.

16. Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.

17. ലേയയുടെ കണ്ണു ശോഭ കുറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു; റാഹേലോ സുന്ദരിയും മനോഹരരൂപിണിയും ആയിരുന്നു.

17. Leyayude Kannu Shobha Kuranjathaayirunnu; Raahelo Sundhariyum Manohararoopiniyum Aayirunnu.

17. Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful.

18. യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; നിന്റെ ഇളയമകൾ റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ ഏഴു സംവത്സരം നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Yaakkobu Raaheline Snehichu; Ninte Ilayamakal Raahelinnu Vendi Njaan Ezhu Samvathsaram Ninne Sevikkaam Ennu Paranju.

18. Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, "I'll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel."

19. അതിന്നു ലാബാൻ : ഞാൻ അവളെ അന്യപുരുഷന്നുകൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും നിനക്കു തരുന്നതു നല്ലതു; എന്നോടുകൂടെ പാർക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Athinnu Laabaan : Njaan Avale Anyapurushannukodukkunnathilum Ninakku Tharunnathu Nallathu; Ennodukoode Paarkka Ennu Paranju.

19. Laban said, "It's better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me."

20. അങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഏഴു സംവത്സരം സേവ ചെയ്തു; അവൻ അവളെ സ്നേഹിക്കകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു അല്പകാലം പോലെ തോന്നി.

20. Angane Yaakkobu Raahelinnu Vendi Ezhu Samvathsaram Seva Cheythu; Avan Avale Snehikkakondu Athu Avannu Alpakaalam Pole Thonni.

20. So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.

21. അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടു: എന്റെ സമയം തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ അവളെ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Anantharam Yaakkobu Laabaanodu: Ente Samayam Thikanjirikkayaal Njaan Ente Bhaaryayude Adukkal Chelluvaan Avale Tharenam Ennu Paranju.

21. Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife. My time is completed, and I want to lie with her."

22. അപ്പോൾ ലാബാൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തെ ജനങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

22. Appol Laabaan Aa Sthalaththe Janangale Ellaam Onnichukootti Oru Virunnu Kazhichu.

22. So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast.

23. എന്നാൽ രാത്രിയിൽ അവൻ തന്റെ മകൾ ലേയയെ കൂട്ടി അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടു പോയി ആക്കി; അവൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

23. Ennaal Raathriyil Avan Thante Makal Leyaye Kootti Avante Adukkal Kondu Poyi Aakki; Avan Avalude Adukkal Chennu.

23. But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and Jacob lay with her.

24. ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകൾ ലേയെക്കു തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

24. Laabaan Thante Makal Leyekku Thante Dhaasi Silpaye Dhaasiyaayi Koduththu.

24. And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter as her maidservant.

25. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോൾ അതു ലേയാ എന്നു കണ്ടു അവൻ ലാബാനോടു: നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി അല്ലയോ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതു? നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Neram Veluththappol Athu Leyaa Ennu Kandu Avan Laabaanodu: Nee Ennodu Cheythathu Enthu? Raahelinnu Vendi Allayo Njaan Ninne Sevichathu? Nee Enthinnu Enne Chathichu Ennu Paranju.

25. When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? I served you for Rachel, didn't I? Why have you deceived me?"

26. അതിന്നു ലാബാൻ : മൂത്തവൾക്കു മുമ്പെ ഇളയവളെ കൊടുക്ക ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദിക്കിൽ നടപ്പില്ല.

26. Athinnu Laabaan : Mooththavalkku Mumpe Ilayavale Kodukka Njangalude Dhikkil Nadappilla.

26. Laban replied, "It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older one.

27. ഇവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവർത്തിക്ക; എന്നാൽ നീ ഇനിയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെയ്യുന്ന സേവേക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞങ്ങൾ അവളെയും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Ivalude Aazhchavattam Nivarththikka; Ennaal Nee Iniyum Ezhu Samvathsaram Ente Adukkal Cheyyunna Sevekku Vendi Njangal Avaleyum Ninakku Tharaam Ennu Paranju.

27. Finish this daughter's bridal week; then we will give you the younger one also, in return for another seven years of work."

28. യാക്കോബ് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു, അവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവർത്തിച്ചു; അവൻ തന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിനെയും അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

28. Yaakkobu Angane Thanne Cheythu, Avalude Aazhchavattam Nivarththichu; Avan Thante Makal Raahelineyum Avannu Bhaaryayaayi Koduththu.

28. And Jacob did so. He finished the week with Leah, and then Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife.

29. തന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിന്നു ലാബാൻ തന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

29. Thante Makal Raahelinnu Laabaan Thante Dhaasi Bilhaye Dhaasiyaayi Koduththu.

29. Laban gave his servant girl Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maidservant.

30. അവൻ റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; റാഹേലിനെ ലേയയെക്കാൾ അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; പിന്നെയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ സേവചെയ്തു.

30. Avan Raahelinte Adukkalum Chennu; Raaheline Leyayekkaal Adhikam Snehichu; Pinneyum Ezhu Samvathsaram Avante Adukkal Sevacheythu.

30. Jacob lay with Rachel also, and he loved Rachel more than Leah. And he worked for Laban another seven years.

31. ലേയാ അനിഷ്ടയെന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തെ തുറന്നു; റാഹേലോ മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു.

31. Leyaa Anishdayennu Yahova Kandappol Avalude Garbhaththe Thurannu; Raahelo Machiyaayirunnu.

31. When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.

32. ലേയാ ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം കണ്ടു; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവു എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവൾ അവന്നു രൂബേൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

32. Leyaa Garbhamdharichu Oru Makane Prasavichu: Yahova Ente Sankadam Kandu; Ippol Ente Bharththaavu Enne Snehikkum Ennu Paranju Aval Avannu Rooben Ennu Perittu.

32. Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, "It is because the LORD has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now."

33. അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: ഞാൻ അനിഷ ്ടഎന്നു യഹോവ കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ഇവനെയും എനിക്കു തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ശിമെയോൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

33. Aval Pinneyum Garbhamdharichu Oru Makane Prasavichu: Njaan Anisha ്daennu Yahova Kettathukondu Ivaneyum Enikku Thannu Ennu Paranju Avannu Shimeyon Ennu Perittu.

33. She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Because the LORD heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too." So she named him Simeon.

34. അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ സമയം എന്റെ ഭർത്താവു എന്നോടു പറ്റിച്ചേരും; ഞാൻ അവന്നു മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ അവന്നു ലേവി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

34. Aval Pinneyum Garbhamdharichu Oru Makane Prasavichu: Ippol Ee Samayam Ente Bharththaavu Ennodu Patticherum; Njaan Avannu Moonnu Puthranmaare Prasavichuvallo Ennu Paranju; Athukondu Aval Avannu Levi Ennu Perittu.

34. Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons." So he was named Levi.

35. അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിക്കും എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ അവന്നു യെഹൂദാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. പിന്നെ അവൾക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നു.

35. Aval Pinneyum Garbham Dharichu Oru Makane Prasavichu; Ippol Njaan Yahovaye Sthuthikkum Ennu Aval Paranju; Athukondu Aval Avannu Yehoodhaa Ennu Perittu. Pinne Avalkku Prasavam Ninnu.

35. She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "This time I will praise the LORD." So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.
