1. യഹോവയായ ദൈവം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ എല്ലാ കാട്ടുജന്തുക്കളെക്കാളും പാമ്പു കൗശലമേറിയതായിരുന്നു. അതു സ്ത്രീയോടു: തോട്ടത്തിലെ യാതൊരു വൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലവും നിങ്ങൾ തിന്നരുതെന്നു ദൈവം വാസ്തവമായി കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

1. Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Undaakkiya Ellaa Kaattujanthukkalekkaalum Paampu Kaushalameriyathaayirunnu. Athu Sthreeyodu: Thottaththile Yaathoru Vrukshaththinte Phalavum Ningal Thinnaruthennu Dhaivam Vaasthavamaayi Kalpichittundo Ennu Chodhichu.

1. Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

2. സ്ത്രീ പാമ്പിനോടു: തോട്ടത്തിലെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ഫലം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തിന്നാം;

2. Sthree Paampinodu: Thottaththile Vrukshangalude Phalam Njangalkku Thinnaam;

2. The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,

3. എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലുള്ള വൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം തിന്നരുതു, തൊടുകയും അരുതു എന്നു ദൈവം കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Ennaal Ningal Marikkaathirikkendathinnu Thottaththinte Naduvilulla Vrukshaththinte Phalam Thinnaruthu, Thodukayum Aruthu Ennu Dhaivam Kalpichittundu Ennu Paranju.

3. but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"

4. പാമ്പു സ്ത്രീയോടു: നിങ്ങൾ മരിക്കയില്ല നിശ്ചയം;

4. Paampu Sthreeyodu: Ningal Marikkayilla Nishchayam;

4. "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.

5. അതു തിന്നുന്ന നാളിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണു തുറക്കയും നിങ്ങൾ നന്മതിന്മകളെ അറിയുന്നവരായി ദൈവത്തെപ്പോലെ ആകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു ദൈവം അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Athu Thinnunna Naalil Ningalude Kannu Thurakkayum Ningal Nanmathinmakale Ariyunnavaraayi Dhaivaththeppole Aakayum Cheyyum Ennu Dhaivam Ariyunnu Ennu Paranju.

5. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

6. ആ വൃക്ഷഫലം തിന്മാൻ നല്ലതും കാണ്മാൻ ഭംഗിയുള്ളതും ജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിപ്പാൻ കാമ്യവും എന്നു സ്ത്രീ കണ്ടു ഫലം പറിച്ചു തിന്നു ഭർത്താവിന്നും കൊടുത്തു; അവന്നും തിന്നു.

6. Aa Vrukshaphalam Thinmaan Nallathum Kaanmaan Bhamgiyullathum Jnjaanam Praapippaan Kaamyavum Ennu Sthree Kandu Phalam Parichu Thinnu Bharththaavinnum Koduththu; Avannum Thinnu.

6. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

7. ഉടനെ ഇരുവരുടെയും കണ്ണു തുറന്നു തങ്ങൾ നഗ്നരെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു, അത്തിയില കൂട്ടിത്തുന്നി തങ്ങൾക്കു അരയാട ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

7. Udane Iruvarudeyum Kannu Thurannu Thangal Nagnarennu Arinju, Aththiyila Koottiththunni Thangalkku Arayaada Undaakki.

7. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

8. വെയിലാറിയപ്പോൾ യഹോവയായ ദൈവം തോട്ടത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ഒച്ച അവർ കേട്ടു; മനുഷ്യനും ഭാര്യയും യഹോവയായ ദൈവം തങ്ങളെ കാണാതിരിപ്പാൻ തോട്ടത്തിലെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒളിച്ചു.

8. Veyilaariyappol Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Thottaththil Nadakkunna Ocha Avar Kettu; Manushyanum Bhaaryayum Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Thangale Kaanaathirippaan Thottaththile Vrukshangalude Idayil Olichu.

8. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

9. യഹോവയായ ദൈവം മനുഷ്യനെ വിളിച്ചു: നീ എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Manushyane Vilichu: Nee Evide Ennu Chodhichu.

9. But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?"

10. തോട്ടത്തിൽ നിന്റെ ഒച്ച കേട്ടിട്ടു ഞാൻ നഗ്നനാകകൊണ്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ഒളിച്ചു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Thottaththil Ninte Ocha Kettittu Njaan Nagnanaakakondu Bhayappettu Olichu Ennu Avan Paranju.

10. He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."

11. നീ നഗ്നനെന്നു നിന്നോടു ആർ പറഞ്ഞു? തിന്നരുതെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ച വൃക്ഷഫലം നീ തിന്നുവോ എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു.

11. Nee Nagnanennu Ninnodu Aar Paranju? Thinnaruthennu Njaan Ninnodu Kalpicha Vrukshaphalam Nee Thinnuvo Ennu Avan Chodhichu.

11. And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"

12. അതിന്നു മനുഷ്യൻ: എന്നോടു കൂടെ ഇരിപ്പാൻ നീ തന്നിട്ടുള്ള സ്ത്രീ വൃക്ഷഫലം തന്നു; ഞാൻ തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Athinnu Manushyan: Ennodu Koode Irippaan Nee Thannittulla Sthree Vrukshaphalam Thannu; Njaan Thinnukayum Cheythu Ennu Paranju.

12. The man said, "The woman you put here with me-she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."

13. യഹോവയായ ദൈവം സ്ത്രീയോടു: നീ ഈ ചെയ്തതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: പാമ്പു എന്നെ വഞ്ചിച്ചു, ഞാൻ തിന്നുപോയി എന്നു സ്ത്രീ പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Sthreeyodu: Nee Ee Cheythathu Enthu Ennu Chodhichathinnu: Paampu Enne Vanchichu, Njaan Thinnupoyi Ennu Sthree Paranju.

13. Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

14. യഹോവയായ ദൈവം പാമ്പിനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: നീ ഇതു ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു എല്ലാ കന്നുകാലികളിലും എല്ലാ കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളിലുംവെച്ചു നീ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ ഉരസ്സുകൊണ്ടു ഗമിച്ചു നിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലമൊക്കെയും പൊടി തിന്നും.

14. Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Paampinodu Kalpichathu: Nee Ithu Cheykakondu Ellaa Kannukaalikalilum Ellaa Kaattumrugangalilumvechu Nee Shapikkappettirikkunnu; Nee Urassukondu Gamichu Ninte Aayushkaalamokkeyum Podi Thinnum.

14. So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.

15. ഞാൻ നിനക്കും സ്ത്രീക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും അവളുടെ സന്തതിക്കും തമ്മിൽ ശത്രുത്വം ഉണ്ടാക്കും. അവൻ നിന്റെ തല തകർക്കും; നീ അവന്റെ കുതികാൽ തകർക്കും.

15. Njaan Ninakkum Sthreekkum Ninte Santhathikkum Avalude Santhathikkum Thammil Shathruthvam Undaakkum. Avan Ninte Thala Thakarkkum; Nee Avante Kuthikaal Thakarkkum.

15. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

16. സ്ത്രീയോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: ഞാൻ നിനക്കു കഷ്ടവും ഗർഭധാരണവും ഏറ്റവും വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും; നീ വേദനയോടെ മക്കളെ പ്രസവിക്കും; നിന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം നിന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനോടു ആകും; അവൻ നിന്നെ ഭരിക്കും.

16. Sthreeyodu Kalpichathu: Njaan Ninakku Kashdavum Garbhadhaaranavum Ettavum Varddhippikkum; Nee Vedhanayode Makkale Prasavikkum; Ninte Aagraham Ninte Bharththaavinodu Aakum; Avan Ninne Bharikkum.

16. To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

17. മനുഷ്യനോടു കല്പിച്ചതോ: നീ നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കയും തിന്നരുതെന്നു ഞാൻ കല്പിച്ച വൃക്ഷഫലം തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഭൂമി ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലമൊക്കെയും നീ കഷ്ടതയോടെ അതിൽനിന്നു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിക്കും.

17. Manushyanodu Kalpichatho: Nee Ninte Bhaaryayude Vaakku Anusarikkayum Thinnaruthennu Njaan Kalpicha Vrukshaphalam Thinnukayum Cheythathukondu Ninte Nimiththam Bhoomi Shapikkappettirikkunnu; Ninte Aayushkaalamokkeyum Nee Kashdathayode Athilninnu Ahovruththi Kazhikkum.

17. To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

18. മുള്ളും പറക്കാരയും നിനക്കു അതിൽനിന്നു മുളെക്കും; വയലിലെ സസ്യം നിനക്കു ആഹാരമാകും.

18. Mullum Parakkaarayum Ninakku Athilninnu Mulekkum; Vayalile Sasyam Ninakku Aahaaramaakum.

18. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.

19. നിലത്തുനിന്നു നിന്നെ എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിൽ തിരികെ ചേരുവോളം മുഖത്തെ വിയർപ്പോടെ നീ ഉപജീവനം കഴിക്കും; നീ പൊടിയാകുന്നു, പൊടിയിൽ തിരികെ ചേരും.

19. Nilaththuninnu Ninne Eduththirikkunnu; Athil Thirike Cheruvolam Mukhaththe Viyarppode Nee Upajeevanam Kazhikkum; Nee Podiyaakunnu, Podiyil Thirike Cherum.

19. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."

20. മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു ഹവ്വാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; അവൾ ജീവനുള്ളവർക്കെല്ലാം മാതാവല്ലോ.

20. Manushyan Thante Bhaaryekku Havvaa Ennu Perittu; Aval Jeevanullavarkkellaam Maathaavallo.

20. Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.

21. യഹോവയായ ദൈവം ആദാമിന്നും അവന്റെഭാര്യെക്കും തോൽകൊണ്ടു ഉടുപ്പു ഉണ്ടാക്കി അവരെ ഉടുപ്പിച്ചു.

21. Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Aadhaaminnum Avantebhaaryekkum Tholkondu Uduppu Undaakki Avare Uduppichu.

21. The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.

22. യഹോവയായ ദൈവം: മനുഷ്യൻ നന്മതിന്മകളെ അറിവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം നമ്മിൽ ഒരുത്തനെപ്പോലെ ആയിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ അവൻ കൈനീട്ടി ജീവവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലംകൂടെ പറിച്ചു തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും ജീവിപ്പാൻ സംഗതിവരരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

22. Yahovayaaya Dhaivam: Manushyan Nanmathinmakale Arivaan Thakkavannam Nammil Oruththaneppole Aayiththeernnirikkunnu; Ippol Avan Kaineetti Jeevavrukshaththinte Phalamkoode Parichu Thinnu Ennekkum Jeevippaan Samgathivararuthu Ennu Kalpichu.

22. And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

23. അവനെ എടുത്തിരുന്ന നിലത്തു കൃഷി ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയായ ദൈവം അവനെ ഏദെൻ തോട്ടത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി.

23. Avane Eduththirunna Nilaththu Krushi Cheyyendathinnu Yahovayaaya Dhaivam Avane Edhen Thottaththilninnu Puraththaakki.

23. So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.

24. ഇങ്ങനെ അവൻ മനുഷ്യനെ ഇറക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ജീവന്റെ വൃക്ഷത്തിങ്കലേക്കുള്ള വഴികാപ്പാൻ അവൻ ഏദെൻ തോട്ടത്തിന്നു കിഴക്കു കെരൂബുകളെ തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാളിന്റെ ജ്വാലയുമായി നിർത്തി.

24. Ingane Avan Manushyane Irakkikkalanju; Jeevante Vrukshaththinkalekkulla Vazhikaappaan Avan Edhen Thottaththinnu Kizhakku Keroobukale Thirinjukondirikkunna Vaalinte Jvaalayumaayi Nirththi.

24. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
