1. താൻ യാക്കോബിന്നു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു റാഹേൽ കണ്ടു തന്റെ സഹോദരിയോടു അസൂയപ്പെട്ടു യാക്കോബിനോടു: എനിക്കു മക്കളെ തരേണം; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ മരിച്ചുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Thaan Yaakkobinnu Makkale Prasavikkunnilla Ennu Raahel Kandu Thante Sahodhariyodu Asooyappettu Yaakkobinodu: Enikku Makkale Tharenam; Allenkil Njaan Marichupokum Ennu Paranju.

1. When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, "Give me children, or I'll die!"

2. അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബിന്നു റാഹേലിനോടു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു: നിനക്കു ഗർഭഫലം തരാതിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തോ ഞാൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Jacob became angry with her and said, "Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?"

3. Then she said, "Here is Bilhah, my maidservant. Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and that through her I too can build a family."

4. അങ്ങനെ അവൾ തന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹയെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു; യാക്കോബ് അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

4. Angane Aval Thante Dhaasi Bilhaye Avannu Bhaaryayaayi Koduththu; Yaakkobu Avalude Adukkal Chennu.

4. So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife. Jacob slept with her,

5. ബിൽഹാ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കേബിന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

5. Bilhaa Garbham Dharichu Yaakkebinnu Oru Makane Prasavichu.

5. and she became pregnant and bore him a son.

6. അപ്പോൾ റാഹേൽ: ദൈവം എനിക്കു ന്യായം നടത്തി എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു എനിക്കു ഒരു മകനെ തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു ദാൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

6. Appol Raahel: Dhaivam Enikku Nyaayam Nadaththi Ente Apeksha Kettu Enikku Oru Makane Thannu Ennu Paranju; Athu Kondu Avannu Dhaan Ennu Perittu.

6. Then Rachel said, "God has vindicated me; he has listened to my plea and given me a son." Because of this she named him Dan.

7. റാഹേലിന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹാ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കോബിന്നു രണ്ടാമതൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

7. Raahelinte Dhaasi Bilhaa Pinneyum Garbham Dharichu Yaakkobinnu Randaamathoru Makane Prasavichu.

7. Rachel's servant Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.

8. ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഹോദരിയോടു വലിയോരു പോർ പൊരുതു ജയിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു റാഹേൽ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു നഫ്താലി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

8. Njaan Ente Sahodhariyodu Valiyoru Por Poruthu Jayichumirikkunnu Ennu Raahel Paranju Avannu Naphthaali Ennu Perittu.

8. Then Rachel said, "I have had a great struggle with my sister, and I have won." So she named him Naphtali.

9. തനിക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നുപോയി എന്നു ലേയാ കണ്ടാറെ തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ വിളിച്ചു അവളെ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

9. Thanikku Prasavam Ninnupoyi Ennu Leyaa Kandaare Thante Dhaasi Silpaye Vilichu Avale Yaakkobinnu Bhaaryayaayi Koduththu.

9. When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she took her maidservant Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife.

10. ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സില്പാ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

10. Leyayude Dhaasi Silpaa Yaakkobinnu Oru Makane Prasavichu.

10. Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son.

11. അപ്പോൾ ലേയാ: ഭാഗ്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഗാദ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

11. Appol Leyaa: Bhaagyam Ennu Paranju Avannu Gaadhu Ennu Perittu.

11. Then Leah said, "What good fortune!" So she named him Gad.

12. ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സില്പാ യാക്കോബിന്നു രണ്ടാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

12. Leyayude Dhaasi Silpaa Yaakkobinnu Randaamathu Oru Makane Prasavichu.

12. Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son.

13. ഞാൻ ഭാഗ്യവതി; സ്ത്രികൾ എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതിയെന്നു പറയും എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ആശേർ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

13. Njaan Bhaagyavathi; Sthrikal Enne Bhaagyavathiyennu Parayum Ennu Leyaa Paranju Avannu Aasher Ennu Perittu.

13. Then Leah said, "How happy I am! The women will call me happy." So she named him Asher.

14. കോതമ്പുകൊയിത്തുകാലത്തു രൂബേൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വയലിൽ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കണ്ടു തന്റെ അമ്മയായ ലേയയുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. റാഹേൽ ലേയയോടു: നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കുറെ എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Kothampukoyiththukaalaththu Rooben Purappettu Vayalil Dhoodhaayippazham Kandu Thante Ammayaaya Leyayude Adukkal Konduvannu. Raahel Leyayodu: Ninte Makante Dhoodhaayippazham Kure Enikku Tharenam Ennu Paranju.

14. During wheat harvest, Reuben went out into the fields and found some mandrake plants, which he brought to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, "Please give me some of your son's mandrakes."

15. But she said to her, "Wasn't it enough that you took away my husband? Will you take my son's mandrakes too?Very well," Rachel said, "he can sleep with you tonight in return for your son's mandrakes."

16. So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. "You must sleep with me," she said. "I have hired you with my son's mandrakes." So he slept with her that night.

17. ദൈവം ലേയയുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു; അവൾ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കോബിന്നു അഞ്ചാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

17. God listened to Leah, and she became pregnant and bore Jacob a fifth son.

18. അപ്പോൾ ലേയാ: ഞാൻ എന്റെ ദാസിയെ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന്നു കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം എനിക്കു കൂലി തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു യിസ്സാഖാർ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

18. Appol Leyaa: Njaan Ente Dhaasiye Ente Bharththaavinnu Koduththathukondu Dhaivam Enikku Kooli Thannu Ennu Paranju Avannu Yissaakhaar Ennu Perittu.

18. Then Leah said, "God has rewarded me for giving my maidservant to my husband." So she named him Issachar.

19. ലേയാ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു, യാക്കോബിന്നു ആറാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;

19. Leyaa Pinneyum Garbham Dharichu, Yaakkobinnu Aaraamathu Oru Makane Prasavichu;

19. Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son.

20. ദൈവം എനിക്കു ഒരു നല്ലദാനം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവു എന്നോടുകൂടെ വസിക്കും; ഞാൻ അവന്നു ആറു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു സെബൂലൂൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

20. Dhaivam Enikku Oru Nalladhaanam Thannirikkunnu; Ippol Ente Bharththaavu Ennodukoode Vasikkum; Njaan Avannu Aaru Makkale Prasavichuvallo Ennu Leyaa Paranju Avannu Sebooloon Ennu Perittu.

20. Then Leah said, "God has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honor, because I have borne him six sons." So she named him Zebulun.

21. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവൾ ഒരു മകളെ പ്രസവിച്ചു അവൾക്കു ദീനാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

21. Athinte Shesham Aval Oru Makale Prasavichu Avalkku Dheenaa Ennu Perittu.

21. Some time later she gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.

22. ദൈവം റാഹേലിനെ ഔർത്തു; ദൈവം അവളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തെ തുറന്നു.

22. Dhaivam Raaheline Aurththu; Dhaivam Avalude Apeksha Kettu Avalude Garbhaththe Thurannu.

22. Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb.

23. അവൾ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ദൈവം എന്റെ നിന്ദ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Aval Garbham Dharichu Oru Makane Prasavichu; Dhaivam Ente Nindha Neekkikkalanjirikkunnu Ennu Paranju.

23. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, "God has taken away my disgrace."

24. യഹോവ എനിക്കു ഇനിയും ഒരു മകനെ തരുമെന്നും പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു യോസേഫ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

24. Yahova Enikku Iniyum Oru Makane Tharumennum Paranju Avannu Yosephu Ennu Perittu.

24. She named him Joseph, and said, "May the LORD add to me another son."

25. റാഹേൽ യോസേഫിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചശേഷം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടു: ഞാൻ എന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കും ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകുവാൻ എന്നെ അയക്കേണം.

25. Raahel Yosephine Prasavichashesham Yaakkobu Laabaanodu: Njaan Ente Sthalaththekkum Dheshaththekkum Pokuvaan Enne Ayakkenam.

25. After Rachel gave birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, "Send me on my way so I can go back to my own homeland.

26. ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതിന്റെ പ്രതിഫലമായ എന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരേയും മക്കളെയും എനിക്കു തരേണം; ഞാൻ പോകട്ടെ; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ച സേവ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Njaan Ninne Sevichathinte Prathiphalamaaya Ente Bhaaryamaareyum Makkaleyum Enikku Tharenam; Njaan Pokatte; Njaan Ninne Sevicha Seva Nee Ariyunnuvallo Ennu Paranju.

26. Give me my wives and children, for whom I have served you, and I will be on my way. You know how much work I've done for you."

27. ലാബാൻ അവനോടു: നിനക്കു എന്നോടു ദയ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ പോകരുതേ; നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു എന്നു എനിക്കു ബോദ്ധ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. Laabaan Avanodu: Ninakku Ennodu Dhaya Undenkil Pokaruthe; Ninte Nimiththam Yahova Enne Anugrahichu Ennu Enikku Boddhyamaayirikkunnu.

27. But Laban said to him, "If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you."

28. നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം എന്നു പറക; ഞാൻ തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Ninakku Enthu Prathiphalam Venam Ennu Paraka; Njaan Tharaam Ennu Paranju.

28. He added, "Name your wages, and I will pay them."

29. അവൻ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ എങ്ങനെ സേവിച്ചു എന്നും നിന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടം എന്റെ പക്കൽ എങ്ങനെ ഇരുന്നു എന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നു.

29. Avan Avanodu: Njaan Ninne Engane Sevichu Ennum Ninte Aattin Koottam Ente Pakkal Engane Irunnu Ennum Nee Ariyunnu.

29. Jacob said to him, "You know how I have worked for you and how your livestock has fared under my care.

30. ഞാൻ വരുംമുമ്പെ നിനക്കു അല്പമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളു; ഇപ്പോൾ അതു അത്യന്തം വർദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ കാൽ വെച്ചേടത്തൊക്കെയും യഹോവ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇനി എന്റെ സ്വന്തഭവനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എപ്പോൾ കരുതും എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

30. Njaan Varummumpe Ninakku Alpame Undaayirunnullu; Ippol Athu Athyantham Varddhichirikkunnu; Njaan Kaal Vechedaththokkeyum Yahova Ninne Anugrahichirikkunnu. Ini Ente Svanthabhavanaththinnu Vendi Njaan Eppol Karuthum Ennum Paranju.

30. The little you had before I came has increased greatly, and the LORD has blessed you wherever I have been. But now, when may I do something for my own household?"

31. ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എന്തു തരേണം എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ ഒന്നും തരേണ്ടാ; ഈ കാര്യം നീ ചെയ്തുതന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെ ഇനിയും മേയിച്ചു പാലിക്കാം.

31. Njaan Ninakku Enthu Tharenam Ennu Avan Chodhichathinnu Yaakkobu Paranjathu: Nee Onnum Tharendaa; Ee Kaaryam Nee Cheythuthannaal Njaan Ninte Aattin Koottaththe Iniyum Meyichu Paalikkaam.

31. "What shall I give you?" he asked. "Don't give me anything," Jacob replied. "But if you will do this one thing for me, I will go on tending your flocks and watching over them:

32. ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ എല്ലാ കൂട്ടങ്ങളിലും കൂടി കടന്നു, അവയിൽനിന്നു പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള ആടുകളെ ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളിൽ കറുത്തതിനെയൊക്കെയും കോലാടുകളിൽ പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ളതിനെയും വേർതിരിക്കാം; അതു എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

32. Njaan Innu Ninte Ellaa Koottangalilum Koodi Kadannu, Avayilninnu Pulliyum Maruvumulla Aadukale Okkeyum Chemmariyaadukalil Karuththathineyokkeyum Kolaadukalil Pulliyum Maruvumullathineyum Verthirikkaam; Athu Ente Prathiphalamaayirikkatte.

32. Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb and every spotted or speckled goat. They will be my wages.

33. നാളെ ഒരിക്കൽ എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം സംബന്ധിച്ചു നീ നോക്കുവാൻ വരുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ നീതി തെളിവായിരിക്കും; കോലാടുകളിൽ പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമില്ലാത്തതും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളിൽ കറുത്തനിറമില്ലാത്തതും എല്ലാം മോഷ്ടിച്ചതായി എണ്ണാം.

33. Naale Orikkal Ente Prathiphalam Sambandhichu Nee Nokkuvaan Varumpol Ente Neethi Thelivaayirikkum; Kolaadukalil Pulliyum Maruvumillaaththathum Chemmariyaadukalil Karuththaniramillaaththathum Ellaam Moshdichathaayi Ennaam.

33. And my honesty will testify for me in the future, whenever you check on the wages you have paid me. Any goat in my possession that is not speckled or spotted, or any lamb that is not dark-colored, will be considered stolen."

34. അതിന്നു ലാബാൻ : നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. Athinnu Laabaan : Nee Paranjathupole Aakatte Ennu Paranju.

34. "Agreed," said Laban. "Let it be as you have said."

35. അന്നു തന്നേ അവൻ വരയും മറുവുമുള്ള മുട്ടാടുകളെയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള പെൺകോലാടുകളെ ഒക്കെയും വെണ്മയുള്ളതിനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളിൽ കറുത്തനിറമുള്ളതിനെ ഒക്കെയും വേർതിരിച്ചു അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

35. Annu Thanne Avan Varayum Maruvumulla Muttaadukaleyum Pulliyum Maruvumulla Penkolaadukale Okkeyum Venmayullathine Okkeyum Chemmariyaadukalil Karuththaniramullathine Okkeyum Verthirichu Avante Puthranmaarude Kayyil Elpichu.

35. That same day he removed all the male goats that were streaked or spotted, and all the speckled or spotted female goats (all that had white on them) and all the dark-colored lambs, and he placed them in the care of his sons.

36. അവൻ തനിക്കും യാക്കോബിന്നും ഇടയിൽ മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിയകലം വെച്ചു; ലാബാന്റെ ശേഷമുള്ള ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ യാക്കോബ് മേയിച്ചു.

36. Avan Thanikkum Yaakkobinnum Idayil Moonnu Dhivasaththe Vazhiyakalam Vechu; Laabaante Sheshamulla Aattin Koottangale Yaakkobu Meyichu.

36. Then he put a three-day journey between himself and Jacob, while Jacob continued to tend the rest of Laban's flocks.

37. എന്നാൽ യാക്കോബ് പുന്നവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും ബദാംവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും അരിഞ്ഞിൽവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും പച്ചക്കൊമ്പുകളെ എടുത്തു അവയിൽ വെള്ള കാണത്തക്കവണ്ണം വെള്ളവരയായി തോലുരിച്ചു.

37. Ennaal Yaakkobu Punnavrukshaththinteyum Badhaamvrukshaththinteyum Arinjilvrukshaththinteyum Pachakkompukale Eduththu Avayil Vella Kaanaththakkavannam Vellavarayaayi Tholurichu.

37. Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches.

38. ആടുകൾ കുടിപ്പാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ , താൻ തോലുരിച്ച കൊമ്പുകളെ പാത്തികളിലും വെള്ളം പകരുന്ന തൊട്ടികളിലും ആടുകളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചു; അവ വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ ചനയേറ്റു.

38. Aadukal Kudippaan Vannappol Avan , Thaan Tholuricha Kompukale Paaththikalilum Vellam Pakarunna Thottikalilum Aadukalude Mumpil Vechu; Ava Vellam Kudippaan Vannappol Chanayettu.

38. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink,

39. ആടുകൾ കൊമ്പുകളെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചനയേറ്റു വരയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള കുട്ടികളെ പെറ്റു.
