1. ലേയാ യാക്കോബിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകളായ ദീനാ ദേശത്തിലെ കന്യകമാരെ കാണമ്ാൻ പോയി.

1. Leyaa Yaakkobinnu Prasavicha Makalaaya Dheenaa Dheshaththile Kanyakamaare Kaanamaan Poyi.

1. Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land.

2. എന്നാറെ ഹിവ്യനായ ഹമോരിന്റെ മകനായി ദേശത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുവായ ശെഖേം അവളെ കണ്ടിട്ടു പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു അവൾക്കു പോരായ്കവരുത്തി.

2. When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and violated her.

3. അവന്റെ ഉള്ളം യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകളായ ദീനയൊടുപറ്റിച്ചേർന്നു; അവൻ ബാലയെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു, ബാലയോടു ഹൃദ്യമായി സംസാരിച്ചു.

3. Avante Ullam Yaakkobinte Makalaaya Dheenayodupattichernnu; Avan Baalaye Snehichu, Baalayodu Hrudhyamaayi Samsaarichu.

3. His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke tenderly to her.

4. ശെഖേം തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹമോരിനോടു: ഈ ബാലയെ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And Shechem said to his father Hamor, "Get me this girl as my wife."

5. തന്റെ മകളായ ദീനയെ അവൻ വഷളാക്കിഎന്നു യാക്കോബ് കേട്ടു; അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തോടുകൂടെ വയലിൽ ആയിരുന്നു; അവർ വരുവോളം യാക്കോബ് മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

5. Thante Makalaaya Dheenaye Avan Vashalaakkiennu Yaakkobu Kettu; Avante Puthranmaar Aattin Koottaththodukoode Vayalil Aayirunnu; Avar Varuvolam Yaakkobu Mindaathirunnu.

5. When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he kept quiet about it until they came home.

6. ശെഖേമിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹമോർ യാക്കോബിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

6. Shekheminte Appanaaya Hamor Yaakkobinodu Samsaarippaan Avante Adukkal Vannu.

6. Then Shechem's father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob.

7. യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ വസ്തുത കേട്ടു വയലിൽ നിന്നു വന്നു. അവൻ യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു, അങ്ങനെ അരുതാത്ത കാര്യം ചെയ്തു യിസ്രായേലിൽ വഷളത്വം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ആ പുരുഷന്മാർക്കും വ്യസനം തോന്നി മഹാകോപവും ജ്വലിച്ചു.

7. Yaakkobinte Puthranmaar Vasthutha Kettu Vayalil Ninnu Vannu. Avan Yaakkobinte Makalodukoode Shayichu, Angane Aruthaaththa Kaaryam Cheythu Yisraayelil Vashalathvam Pravarththichathukondu Aa Purushanmaarkkum Vyasanam Thonni Mahaakopavum Jvalichu.

7. Now Jacob's sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter-a thing that should not be done.

8. ഹമോർ അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു: എന്റെ മകൻ ശെഖേമിന്റെ ഉള്ളം നിങ്ങളുടെ മകളോടു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുക്കേണം.

8. Hamor Avarodu Samsaarichu: Ente Makan Shekheminte Ullam Ningalude Makalodu Pattiyirikkunnu; Avale Avannu Bhaaryayaayi Kodukkenam.

8. But Hamor said to them, "My son Shechem has his heart set on your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife.

9. നിങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളോടു വിവാഹസംബന്ധം കൂടി നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തരികയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എടുക്കയും ചെയ്‍വിൻ .

9. Ningal Njangalodu Vivaahasambandham Koodi Ningalude Sthreekale Njangalkku Tharikayum Njangalude Sthreekale Ningalkku Edukkayum Chey‍vin .

9. Intermarry with us; give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves.

10. നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കാം; ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾക്കു സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യമുണ്ടാകും; അതിൽ പാർത്തു വ്യാപാരം ചെയ്തു വസ്തു സമ്പാദിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Ningalkku Njangalodukoode Paarkkaam; Dheshaththu Ningalkku Svaathanthryamundaakum; Athil Paarththu Vyaapaaram Cheythu Vasthu Sampaadhippin Ennu Paranju.

10. You can settle among us; the land is open to you. Live in it, trade in it, and acquire property in it."

11. ശെഖേമും അവളുടെ അപ്പനോടും സഹോദരന്മാരോടും: നിങ്ങൾക്കുഎന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതു ഞാൻ തരാം.

11. Shekhemum Avalude Appanodum Sahodharanmaarodum: Ningalkkuennodu Krupa Thonniyaal Ningal Parayunnathu Njaan Tharaam.

11. Then Shechem said to Dinah's father and brothers, "Let me find favor in your eyes, and I will give you whatever you ask.

12. എന്നോടു സ്ത്രീധനവും ദാനവും എത്രയെങ്കിലും ചോദിപ്പിൻ ; നിങ്ങൾ പറയുംപോലെ ഞാൻ തരാം; ബാലയെ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Ennodu Sthreedhanavum Dhaanavum Ethrayenkilum Chodhippin ; Ningal Parayumpole Njaan Tharaam; Baalaye Enikku Bhaaryayaayittu Tharenam Ennu Paranju.

12. Make the price for the bride and the gift I am to bring as great as you like, and I'll pay whatever you ask me. Only give me the girl as my wife."

13. തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരിയായ ദീനയെ ഇവൻ വഷളാക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ശെഖേമിനോടും അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹമോരിനോടും സംസാരിച്ചു കപടമായി ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു:ന്ന കാര്യം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു പാടുള്ളതല്ല; അതു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അവമാനമാകുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ഒന്നു ചെയ്താൽ ഞങ്ങൾ സമ്മതിക്കാം.

13. Thangalude Sahodhariyaaya Dheenaye Ivan Vashalaakkiyathukondu Yaakkobinte Puthranmaar Shekheminodum Avante Appanaaya Hamorinodum Samsaarichu Kapadamaayi Uththaram Paranjathu:nna Kaaryam Njangalkku Paadullathalla; Athu Njangalkku Avamaanamaakunnu. Enkilum Onnu Cheythaal Njangal Sammathikkaam.

13. Because their sister Dinah had been defiled, Jacob's sons replied deceitfully as they spoke to Shechem and his father Hamor.

14. നിങ്ങളിലുള്ള ആണെല്ലാം പരിച്ഛേദന ഏറ്റു നിങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ ആയ്തീരുമെങ്കിൽ

14. Ningalilulla Aanellaam Parichchedhana Ettu Ningal Njangaleppole Aaytheerumenkil

14. They said to them, "We can't do such a thing; we can't give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.

15. ഞങ്ങളുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരികയും നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെ ഞങ്ങൾ എടുക്കയും നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പാർത്തു ഒരു ജനമായ്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യാം.

15. Njangalude Sthreekale Ningalkku Tharikayum Ningalude Sthreekale Njangal Edukkayum Ningalodukoode Paarththu Oru Janamaaytheerukayum Cheyyaam.

15. We will give our consent to you on one condition only: that you become like us by circumcising all your males.

16. പരിച്ഛേദന ഏലക്കുന്നതിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു സമ്മതിക്കാഞ്ഞാലോ ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ബാലയെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോരും.

16. Parichchedhana Elakkunnathil Njangalude Vaakku Sammathikkaanjaalo Njangal Njangalude Baalaye Koottikkonduporum.

16. Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We'll settle among you and become one people with you.

17. അവരുടെ വാക്കു ഹമോരിന്നും ഹാമോരിന്റെ മകനായ ശെഖേമിന്നും ബോധിച്ചു.

17. Avarude Vaakku Hamorinnum Haamorinte Makanaaya Shekheminnum Bodhichu.

17. But if you will not agree to be circumcised, we'll take our sister and go."

18. ആ യൗവനക്കാരന്നു യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകളോടു അനുരാഗം വർദ്ധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ആ കാര്യം നടത്തുവാൻ താമസം ചെയ്തില്ല; അവൻ തന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽ എല്ലാവരിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായിരുന്നു.

18. Aa Yauvanakkaarannu Yaakkobinte Makalodu Anuraagam Varddhichathukondu Avan Aa Kaaryam Nadaththuvaan Thaamasam Cheythilla; Avan Thante Pithrubhavanaththil Ellaavarilum Shreshdanaayirunnu.

18. Their proposal seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem.

19. അങ്ങനെ ഹമോരും അവന്റെ മകനായ ശെഖേമും തങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണഗോപുരത്തിങ്കൽ ചെന്നു, പട്ടണത്തിലെ പുരുഷന്മാരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു:

19. Angane Hamorum Avante Makanaaya Shekhemum Thangalude Pattanagopuraththinkal Chennu, Pattanaththile Purushanmaarodu Samsaarichu:

19. The young man, who was the most honored of all his father's household, lost no time in doing what they said, because he was delighted with Jacob's daughter.

20. ഈ മനുഷ്യർ നമ്മോടു സമാധാനമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ ദേശത്തു പാർത്തു വ്യാപാരം ചെയ്യട്ടെ; അവർക്കും നമുക്കും മതിയാകംവണ്ണം ദേശം വിസ്താരമുള്ളതല്ലോ; അവരുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെ നാം വിവാഹം കഴിക്കയും നമ്മുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെ അവർക്കുംകൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്ക.

20. Ee Manushyar Nammodu Samaadhaanamaayirikkunnu; Athukondu Avar Dheshaththu Paarththu Vyaapaaram Cheyyatte; Avarkkum Namukkum Mathiyaakamvannam Dhesham Visthaaramullathallo; Avarude Sthreekale Naam Vivaaham Kazhikkayum Nammude Sthreekale Avarkkumkodukkayum Cheyka.

20. So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city to speak to their fellow townsmen.

21. അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടവും സമ്പത്തും മൃഗങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നമുക്കു ആകയില്ലയോ? അവർ പറയുംവണ്ണം സമ്മതിച്ചാൽ മതി; എന്നാൽ അവർ നമ്മോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Avarude Aattin Koottavum Sampaththum Mrugangalokkeyum Namukku Aakayillayo? Avar Parayumvannam Sammathichaal Mathi; Ennaal Avar Nammodukoode Paarkkum Ennu Paranju.

21. "These men are friendly toward us," they said. "Let them live in our land and trade in it; the land has plenty of room for them. We can marry their daughters and they can marry ours.

22. മൂന്നാം ദിവസം അവർ വേദനപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യാക്കോബിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരായി ദീനയുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരായ ശിമെയോനും ലേവിയും താന്താന്റെ വാൾ എടുത്തു നിർഭയമായിരുന്ന പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെന്നു ആണിനെയൊക്കെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

22. Moonnaam Dhivasam Avar Vedhanappettirikkumpol Yaakkobinte Randu Puthranmaaraayi Dheenayude Sahodharanmaaraaya Shimeyonum Leviyum Thaanthaante Vaal Eduththu Nirbhayamaayirunna Pattanaththinte Nere Chennu Aanineyokkeyum Konnukalanju.

22. But the men will consent to live with us as one people only on the condition that our males be circumcised, as they themselves are.

23. അവർ ഹമോരിനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ ശേഖേമിനെയും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽകൊന്നു ദീനയെ ശെഖേമിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽനിന്നു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോന്നു.

23. Avar Hamorineyum Avante Makanaaya Shekhemineyum Vaalinte Vaayththalayaalkonnu Dheenaye Shekheminte Veettilninnu Koottikkondu Ponnu.

23. Won't their livestock, their property and all their other animals become ours? So let us give our consent to them, and they will settle among us."

24. പിന്നെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ നിഹതന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ചെന്നു,തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരിയെ അവർ വഷളാക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു പട്ടണത്തെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടു.

24. Pinne Yaakkobinte Puthranmaar Nihathanmaarude Idayil Chennu,thangalude Sahodhariye Avar Vashalaakkiyathukondu Pattanaththe Kollayittu.

24. All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised.

25. അവർഅവരുടെ ആടു, കന്നുകാലി, കഴുത ഇങ്ങനെ പട്ടണത്തിലും വെളിയിലുമുള്ളവയൊക്കെയും അപഹരിച്ചു.

25. Avaravarude Aadu, Kannukaali, Kazhutha Ingane Pattanaththilum Veliyilumullavayokkeyum Apaharichu.

25. Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.

26. അവരുടെസമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും എല്ലാപൈതങ്ങളെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും അവർ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; വീടുകളിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കൊള്ളയിട്ടു.

26. Avarudesampaththokkeyum Ellaapaithangaleyum Sthreekaleyum Avar Kondupoyi; Veedukalilullathokkeyum Kollayittu.

26. They put Hamor and his son Shechem to the sword and took Dinah from Shechem's house and left.

27. അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് ശിമെയോനോടും ലേവിയോടും: ഈ ദേശനിവാസികളായ കനാന്യരുടെയും പെരിസ്യരുടെയും ഇടയിൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ നാറ്റിച്ചു വിഷമത്തിലാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ ആൾ ചുരുക്കമുള്ളവനല്ലോ; അവർ എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടംകൂടി എന്നെ തോല്പിക്കയും ഞാനും എന്റെ ഭവനവും നശിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Appol Yaakkobu Shimeyonodum Leviyodum: Ee Dheshanivaasikalaaya Kanaanyarudeyum Perisyarudeyum Idayil Ningal Enne Naattichu Vishamaththilaakkiyirikkunnu; Njaan Aal Churukkamullavanallo; Avar Enikku Virodhamaayi Koottamkoodi Enne Tholpikkayum Njaanum Ente Bhavanavum Nashikkayum Cheyyum Ennu Paranju.

27. The sons of Jacob came upon the dead bodies and looted the city where their sister had been defiled.

28. അതിന്നു അവർ: ഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരിയോടു അവന്നു ഒരു വേശ്യയോടു എന്നപോലെ പെരുമാറാമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Athinnu Avar: Njangalude Sahodhariyodu Avannu Oru Veshyayodu Ennapole Perumaaraamo Ennu Paranju.

28. They seized their flocks and herds and donkeys and everything else of theirs in the city and out in the fields.

29. They carried off all their wealth and all their women and children, taking as plunder everything in the houses.
