1. എന്നാൽ യോസേഫിനെ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവനെ അവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യിശ്മായേല്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു ഫറവോന്റെ ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി അകമ്പടിനായകനായ പോത്തീഫർ എന്ന ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യൻ അവനെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി.

1. Ennaal Yosephine Misrayeemilekku Kondupoyi; Avane Avide Konduvanna Yishmaayelyarude Kayyilninnu Pharavonte Oru Udhyogasthanaayi Akampadinaayakanaaya Poththeephar Enna Oru Misrayeemyan Avane Vilekku Vaangi.

1. Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh's officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there.

2. യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ കൃതാർത്ഥനായി, മിസ്രയീമ്യനായ യജമാനന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പാർത്തു.

2. Yahova Yosephinodukoode Undaayirunnathukondu Avan Kruthaarththanaayi, Misrayeemyanaaya Yajamaanante Veettil Paarththu.

2. The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.

3. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും അവൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും യഹോവ സാധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവന്റെ യജമാനൻ കണ്ടു.

3. Yahova Avanodukoode Undennum Avan Cheyyunnathokkeyum Yahova Saadhippikkunnu Ennum Avante Yajamaanan Kandu.

3. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did,

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു യേസേഫ് അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടനായി ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തു; അവൻ അവനെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനാക്കി, തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

4. Athukondu Yesephu Avannu Ishdanaayi Shushrooshacheythu; Avan Avane Gruhavichaarakanaakki, Thanikkullathokkeyum Avante Kayyil Elpichu.

4. Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.

5. അവൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നും തനിക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും അവനെ വിചാരകനാക്കിയതുമുതൽ യഹോവ യോസേഫിന്റെ നിമിത്തം മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ വീട്ടിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; വീട്ടിലും വയലിലും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിന്മേലും യഹോവയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടായി.

5. Avan Thante Veettinnum Thanikkulla Sakalaththinnum Avane Vichaarakanaakkiyathumuthal Yahova Yosephinte Nimiththam Misrayeemyante Veettine Anugrahichu; Veettilum Vayalilum Avannulla Sakalaththinmelum Yahovayude Anugraham Undaayi.

5. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

6. അവൻ തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു; താൻ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണം ഒഴികെ അവന്റെ വൈശം ഉള്ള മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. Avan Thanikkullathokkeyum Yosephinte Kayyil Elpichu; Thaan Bhakshikkunna Bhakshanam Ozhike Avante Vaisham Ulla Mattu Yaathonnum Avan Arinjilla.

6. So he left in Joseph's care everything he had; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome,

7. യോസേഫ് കോമളനും മനോഹരരൂപിയും ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യ യോസേഫിന്മേൽ കണ്ണു പതിച്ചു: എന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Yosephu Komalanum Manohararoopiyum Aayirunnathukondu Yajamaanante Bhaarya Yosephinmel Kannu Pathichu: Ennodukoode Shayikka Ennu Paranju.

7. and after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!"

8. അവൻ അതിന്നു സമ്മതിക്കാതെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടു: ഇതാ, വീട്ടിൽ എന്റെ കൈവശമുള്ള യാതൊന്നും എന്റെ യജമാനൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല; തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. Avan Athinnu Sammathikkaathe Yajamaanante Bhaaryayodu: Ithaa, Veettil Ente Kaivashamulla Yaathonnum Ente Yajamaanan Ariyunnilla; Thanikkullathokkeyum Ente Kayyil Elpichirikkunnu.

8. But he refused. "With me in charge," he told her, "my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.

9. ഈ വീട്ടിൽ എന്നെക്കാൾ വലിയവനില്ല; നീ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയാകയാൽ നിന്നെയല്ലാതെ മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവൻ എനിക്കു വിരോധിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ ഈ മഹാദോഷം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു ദൈവത്തോടു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Ee Veettil Ennekkaal Valiyavanilla; Nee Avante Bhaaryayaakayaal Ninneyallaathe Mattu Yaathonnum Avan Enikku Virodhichittumilla; Athukondu Njaan Ee Mahaadhosham Pravarththichu Dhaivaththodu Paapam Cheyyunnathu Engane Ennu Paranju.

9. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?"

10. അവൾ ദിനം പ്രതിയും യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനോ അവളുടെ അരികെ ഇരിപ്പാനോ അവൻ അവളെ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല.

10. Aval Dhinam Prathiyum Yosephinodu Paranjittum Avalodukoode Shayippaano Avalude Arike Irippaano Avan Avale Anusarichilla.

10. And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.

11. ഒരു ദിവസം അവൻ തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്‍വാൻ വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു ചെന്നു; വീട്ടിലുള്ളവർ ആരും അവിടെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

11. Oru Dhivasam Avan Thante Pravruththi Chey‍vaan Veettinnakaththu Chennu; Veettilullavar Aarum Avide Illaayirunnu.

11. One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside.

12. അവൾ അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചു: എന്നോടു കൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു: എന്നാൽ അവൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവളുടെ കയ്യിൽ വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

12. Aval Avante Vasthram Pidichu: Ennodu Koode Shayikka Ennu Paranju: Ennaal Avan Thante Vasthram Avalude Kayyil Vittechu Puraththekku Audikkalanju.

12. She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me!" But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

13. അവൻ വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ,

13. Avan Vasthram Thante Kayyil Vittechu Puraththekku Audippoyi Ennu Kandappol,

13. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house,

14. അവൾ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടു: കണ്ടോ, നമ്മെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ ഒരു എബ്രായനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

14. Aval Veettilullavare Vilichu Avarodu: Kando, Namme Haasyamaakkendathinnu Avan Oru Ebraayane Konduvannittirikkunnu; Avan Ennodukoode Shayikkendathinnu Ente Adukkal Vannu; Ennaal Njaan Urakke Nilavilichu.

14. she called her household servants. "Look," she said to them, "this Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us! He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed.

15. ഞാൻ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വിട്ടേച്ചു ഔടി പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Njaan Urakke Nilavilichathu Kettappol Avan Thante Vasthram Ente Adukkal Vittechu Audi Poykkalanju Ennu Paranju.

15. When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house."

16. യജമാനൻ വീട്ടിൽ വരുവോളം അവൾ ആ വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ പക്കൽ വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

16. Yajamaanan Veettil Varuvolam Aval Aa Vasthram Thante Pakkal Vechukondirunnu.

16. She kept his cloak beside her until his master came home.

17. അവനോടു അവൾ അവ്വണം തന്നേ സംസാരിച്ചു: നീ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന എബ്രായദാസൻ എന്നെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കുവാൻ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

17. Avanodu Aval Avvanam Thanne Samsaarichu: Nee Konduvannirikkunna Ebraayadhaasan Enne Haasyamaakkuvaan Ente Adukkal Vannu.

17. Then she told him this story: "That Hebrew slave you brought us came to me to make sport of me.

18. ഞാൻ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Njaan Urakke Nilavilichappol Avan Thante Vasthram Ente Adukkal Vittechu Puraththekku Audippoyi Ennu Paranju.

18. But as soon as I screamed for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house."

19. നിന്റെ ദാസൻ ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു യജമാനൻ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവന്നു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു.

19. Ninte Dhaasan Ingane Ennodu Cheythu Ennu Thante Bhaarya Paranja Vaakku Yajamaanan Kettappol Avannu Kopam Jvalichu.

19. When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, "This is how your slave treated me," he burned with anger.

20. യോസേഫിന്റെ യജമാനൻ അവനെ പിടിച്ചു രാജാവിന്റെ ബദ്ധന്മാർ കിടക്കുന്ന കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ആക്കി; അങ്ങനെ അവൻ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ കിടന്നു.

20. Yosephinte Yajamaanan Avane Pidichu Raajaavinte Baddhanmaar Kidakkunna Kaaraagruhaththil Aakki; Angane Avan Kaaraagruhaththil Kidannu.

20. Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison,

21. എന്നാൽ യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു, കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണിക്കു അവനോടു ദയ തോന്നത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു കൃപ നല്കി.

21. Ennaal Yahova Yosephinodukoode Irunnu, Kaaraagruhapramaanikku Avanodu Dhaya Thonnaththakkavannam Avannu Krupa Nalki.

21. the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.

22. കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലെ സകലബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണി യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കൊക്കെയും അവൻ വിചാരകനായിരുന്നു.

22. Kaaraagruhaththile Sakalabaddhanmaareyum Kaaraagruhapramaani Yosephinte Kayyil Elpichu; Avarude Pravruththikkokkeyum Avan Vichaarakanaayirunnu.

22. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.

23. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും സഫലമാക്കുകകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കൈക്കീഴുള്ള യാതൊന്നും കാരാഗൃഹ പ്രമാണി നോക്കിയില്ല.

23. Yahova Avanodukoode Irunnu Avan Cheythathokkeyum Saphalamaakkukakondu Avante Kaikkeezhulla Yaathonnum Kaaraagruha Pramaani Nokkiyilla.

23. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.
