1. When King David was old and well advanced in years, he could not keep warm even when they put covers over him.

8. But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei and Rei and David's special guard did not join Adonijah.

16. ബത്ത്-ശേബ കുനിഞ്ഞു രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു നിനക്കു എന്തു വേണം എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു.

17. She said to him, "My lord, you yourself swore to me your servant by the LORD your God: 'Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne.'

18. But now Adonijah has become king, and you, my lord the king, do not know about it.

19. He has sacrificed great numbers of cattle, fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the king's sons, Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant.

20. യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു ആരെന്നു നീ അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്റെയും കണ്ണു നിന്നെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. Yajamaananaaya Raajaave, Yajamaananaaya Raajaavinte Anantharavanaayi Simhaasanaththil Irikkendathu Aarennu Nee Ariyikkendathinnu Ellaayisraayelinteyum Kannu Ninne Nokkikkondirikkunnu.

20. My lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to learn from you who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21. അല്ലാഞ്ഞാൽ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം, ഞാനും എന്റെ മകൻ ശലോമോനും കുറ്റക്കാരായിരിക്കും.

23. And they told the king, "Nathan the prophet is here." So he went before the king and bowed with his face to the ground.

24. Naathaan Paranjathenthennaal: Yajamaananaaya Raajaave, Adhoneeyaavu Ente Anantharavanaayi Vaanu Ente Simhaasanaththil Irikkum Ennu Nee Kalpichittundo?

24. Nathan said, "Have you, my lord the king, declared that Adonijah shall be king after you, and that he will sit on your throne?

26. But me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon he did not invite.

27. യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു ആരെന്നു അടിയങ്ങളെ നീ അറിയിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കെ ഈ കാര്യം യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയാലോ നടന്നതു?

27. Yajamaananaaya Raajaavinte Anantharavanaayi Simhaasanaththil Irikkendathu Aarennu Adiyangale Nee Ariyikkaathe Irikke Ee Kaaryam Yajamaananaaya Raajaavinte Kalpanayaalo Nadannathu?

27. Is this something my lord the king has done without letting his servants know who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"

28. ബത്ത്-ശേബയെ വിളിപ്പിൻ എന്നു ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽചെന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു.

28. Baththu-shebaye Vilippin Ennu Dhaaveedh‍raajaavu Kalpichu. Aval Raajasannidhiyilchennu Raajaavinte Mumpaake Ninnu.

28. Then King David said, "Call in Bathsheba." So she came into the king's presence and stood before him.

29. The king then took an oath: "As surely as the LORD lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble,

30. നിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോൻ എന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി വാണു എനിക്കു പകരം എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യംചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിവർത്തിക്കും എന്നു സത്യംചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. Ninte Makanaaya Shalomon Ente Anantharavanaayi Vaanu Enikku Pakaram Ente Simhaasanaththil Irikkum Ennu Njaan Ninnodu Yisraayelinte Dhaivamaaya Yahovayude Naamaththil Sathyamcheythathupole Thanne Njaan Innu Nivarththikkum Ennu Sathyamcheythu Paranju.

30. I will surely carry out today what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place."

31. അപ്പോൾ ബത്ത്-ശേബ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവു ദീർഘായുസ്സായിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. Appol Baththu-sheba Saashdaamgam Veenu Raajaavine Namaskarichu: Ente Yajamaananaaya Dhaaveedh‍raajaavu Dheerghaayussaayirikkatte Ennu Paranju.

31. Then Bathsheba bowed low with her face to the ground and, kneeling before the king, said, "May my lord King David live forever!"

32. King David said, "Call in Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet and Benaiah son of Jehoiada." When they came before the king,

33. Raajaavu Avarodu Kalpichathenthennaal: Ningalude Yajamaanante Bhruthyanmaare Koottikkondu Ente Makanaaya Shaalomone Ente Kovarkazhuthappuraththu Kayatti Thaazhe Geehonilekku Kondupokuvin .

33. he said to them: "Take your lord's servants with you and set Solomon my son on my own mule and take him down to Gihon.

34. അവിടെവെച്ചു സാദോൿ പുരോഹിതനും നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകനും അവനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യേണം; പിന്നെ കാഹളം ഊതി: ശലമോൻ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു ഘോഷിച്ചുപറവിൻ .

36. Appol Yehoyaadhayude Makan Benaayaavu Raajaavinodu: Aamen ; Yajamaananaaya Raajaavinte Dhaivamaaya Yahovayum Angane Thanne Kalpikkumaaraakatte.

36. Benaiah son of Jehoiada answered the king, "Amen! May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, so declare it.

37. യഹോവ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ ശലോമോനോടുംകൂടെ ഇരിക്കയും യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെക്കാളും അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ ശ്രേഷ്� മാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

37. 

37. As the LORD was with my lord the king, so may he be with Solomon to make his throne even greater than the throne of my lord King David!"

38. അങ്ങനെ സാദോൿ പുരോഹിതനും നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകനും യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവും ക്രേത്യരും പ്ളേത്യരും ചെന്നു ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവിന്റെ കോവർകഴുതപ്പുറത്തു ശലോമേനെ കയറ്റി ഗീഹോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി,

38. Angane Saadhok Purohithanum Naathaan Pravaachakanum Yehoyaadhayude Makanaaya Benaayaavum Krethyarum Plethyarum Chennu Dhaaveedh‍raajaavinte Kovarkazhuthappuraththu Shalomene Kayatti Geehonilekku Kondupoyi,

38. So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites and the Pelethites went down and put Solomon on King David's mule and escorted him to Gihon.

39. സാദോൿ പുരോഹിതൻ തൃക്കൂടാരത്തിൽനിന്നു തൈലക്കൊമ്പു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ശലോമോനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു. അവർ കാഹളം ഊതി, ജനമൊക്കെയും ശലോമോൻ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു ഘോഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

39. Saadhok Purohithan Thrukkoodaaraththilninnu Thailakkompu Konduchennu Shalomone Abhishekam Cheythu. Avar Kaahalam Oothi, Janamokkeyum Shalomon Raajaave, Jayajaya Ennu Ghoshichu Paranju.

39. Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the sacred tent and anointed Solomon. Then they sounded the trumpet and all the people shouted, "Long live King Solomon!"

40. പിന്നെ ജനമൊക്കയും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; ജനം കുഴലൂതി; അവരുടെ ഘോഷംകൊണ്ടു ഭൂമികുലുങ്ങുമാറു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

40. Pinne Janamokkayum Avante Pinnaale Chennu; Janam Kuzhaloothi; Avarude Ghoshamkondu Bhoomikulungumaaru Athyantham Santhoshichu.

40. And all the people went up after him, playing flutes and rejoicing greatly, so that the ground shook with the sound.

41. അദോനീയാവും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സകല വിരുന്നുകാരും ഭക്ഷണം കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അതു കേട്ടു. കാഹളനാദം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ യോവാബ്: പട്ടണം കലങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആരവം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

43. "Not at all!" Jonathan answered. "Our lord King David has made Solomon king.

46. അത്രയുമല്ല ശലോമോൻ രാജസിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു;

46. Athrayumalla Shalomon Raajasimhaasanaththil Irikkunnu;

46. Moreover, Solomon has taken his seat on the royal throne.

47. രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരും നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവിനെ അഭിവന്ദനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ചെന്നു; നിന്റെ ദൈവം ശലോമോന്റെ നാമത്തെ നിന്റെ നാമത്തെക്കാൾ ഉൽകൃഷ്ടവും അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്� വും ആക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. 

47. Also, the royal officials have come to congratulate our lord King David, saying, 'May your God make Solomon's name more famous than yours and his throne greater than yours!' And the king bowed in worship on his bed

48. രാജാവു തന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചു: ഇന്നു എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ എന്റെ സന്തതി ഇരിക്കുന്നതു എന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കാണ്മാൻ സംഗതി വരുത്തിയ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ സ്തുതിക്കപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

48. Raajaavu Thante Kattilinmel Namaskarichu: Innu Ente Simhaasanaththil Ente Santhathi Irikkunnathu Ente Kannukondu Kaanmaan Samgathi Varuththiya Yisraayelinte Dhaivamaaya Yahova Sthuthikkappedumaaraakatte Ennu Paranju.

48. and said, 'Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has allowed my eyes to see a successor on my throne today.'"

49. ഉടനെ അദോനീയാവിന്റെ വിരുന്നുകാർ ഒക്കെയും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഔരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വഴിക്കുപോയി.

49. Udane Adhoneeyaavinte Virunnukaar Okkeyum Bhayappettu Ezhunnettu Auroruththan Thaanthaante Vazhikkupoyi.

49. At this, all Adonijah's guests rose in alarm and dispersed.

50. അദോനീയാവും ശലോമോനെ പേടിച്ചു ചെന്നു യാഗപീ� ത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ പിടിച്ചു.

50. 

50. But Adonijah, in fear of Solomon, went and took hold of the horns of the altar.

51. അദോനീയാവു ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിനെ പേടിക്കുന്നു; ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു അടിയനെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്നു ഇന്നു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ യാഗപീ� ത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശലോമോൻ വർത്തമാനം കേട്ടു.

51. 

51. Then Solomon was told, "Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon and is clinging to the horns of the altar. He says, 'Let King Solomon swear to me today that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.'"

52. അവൻ യോഗ്യനായിരുന്നാൽ അവന്റെ തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമവും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല; അവനിൽ കുറ്റം കണ്ടാലോ അവൻ മരിക്കേണം എന്നു ശലോമോൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

52. Avan Yogyanaayirunnaal Avante Thalayile Oru Romavum Nilaththu Veezhukayilla; Avanil Kuttam Kandaalo Avan Marikkenam Ennu Shalomon Kalpichu.

52. Solomon replied, "If he shows himself to be a worthy man, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground; but if evil is found in him, he will die."

53. അങ്ങനെ ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു ആളയച്ചു അവർ അവനെ യാഗപീ� ത്തിങ്കൽനിന്നു ഇറക്കി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അവൻ വന്നു ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു. ശലോമോൻ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

53. Then King Solomon sent men, and they brought him down from the altar. And Adonijah came and bowed down to King Solomon, and Solomon said, "Go to your home."
